The advice to work smart and not hard is a common discussion in sales circles. This really doesn't mean that hard work is not beneficial, but not working smart can make your hard work worthless.

The admonition to work smart basically means to pay attention to what you are doing. Be aware whether or not you are getting the results from the work you are doing. When the results are not what you want, being smart means to take a look and see what needs to be changed, and then change it.

Working smart also means relying on best practices. Sometimes I say that I am lazy, and the person I say it to replies, no you're not! But what I mean by that is that I find ways to make the repetitive things less and the big picture things more. There are many people who figured out those processes and shared the benefits. Those who work smart pay attention to those who have gone before and use that information to making working hard worth it.

When I read your question, an interesting picture popped into my mind. A hamster on his little wheel is working hard but he will never get anywhere no matter how hard he tries. A lot of people are like that hamster. They work hard but they aren't going to succeed because they aren't working smart. They may focus on the wrong thing or get bogged down by trying to do too many things at once. They think that they know the best way to achieve success and aren't willing to listen when someone tries to help them so even though they are working hard, they are like the hamster and his wheel - stuck in the same place where they started.
I think that you are working smart when you begin to learn by reading. I know a lot of people believe that they are saving time by not reading the instructions provided and then get frustrated when their way isn't working. Knowledge is power. It keeps you from making costly mistakes in both time and money. That is smart.
I think that you are working smart when you start out with a plan. I read a quote recently that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. I realize that some plans need to be flexible because circumstances change.
I think that you are working smart when you realize that you will have setbacks and you will make mistakes. Use your mistakes by learning from them so that you don't repeat them.
I think you are working smart by asking for help when you need it. That is one reason that I like the Forum. There are always experienced affiliates who are willing answer your questions and provide you with support and encouragement.
I think that you are working smart by not quitting when things get tough. When I saw the changes that were implemented this month, I was discouraged. Then I thought about my reasons for joining SFI. The main reason that I joined was to earn money. That hasn't changed. I thought that SFI was the best way to earn that money and that hasn't changed either. I decided that what did need to change was my attitude. Now I ready to begin to work even harder but I am determined to work smarter.

What is the difference between working hard and working smart?

Working hard is when you’re working your SFI business with a mindset that with the new addition in Team Leader qualification, it is now harder to achieve the Team Leader rank. That is the start of working hard. With that kind of negative attitude, we magnify our frustrations when we see in our Genealogy filled with more inactive PSAs than active ones or in most cases none of the PSAs are active. Then we keep on telling ourselves it’s hard to recruit or sell. I don’t know where to advertise my SFI business. I don’t know how to motivate my sleeping PSAs. I don’t want to sell. I don’t know how or where to sell TripleClicks products. But then your sponsor keep on telling you, “Just do the SFI Basics until you have 5 active PSAs.” So you drag yourself trying to earn as many VersaPoints as you can to maintain your EA or TL rank.

Working smart is when you can think smarter so that your hard work would be more worth your time. To work smart, you need to focus on: 1) How can I do sponsoring and duplication better?; 2) How and where can I recruit quality PSAs?; 3) How can I communicate better with my PSAs?;4) How can I motivate and inspire my PSAs to be become Team Leader?; 5) How can I earn big commissions every month? And because you start asking, you start discovering new techniques, a new and more effective way of doing your SFI business.You start reading about the business in depth and put into practice what you have learned from your readings. And when you find the better way of doing things, you then apply these learning on a consistent basis.You start building your list of prospects, list of a advertising sites (paid and free), etc.

In other words, the more you can think smarter, the better you can build your SFI business.

This is a very interesting question, as it does not only apply to SFI but also to any type of work that is goal oriented rather than procedural.
I would say that smart work is actually hard work that makes the most of both available time and resources to get productive results.
Some people easily confuse smart work with short cuts and while they may bring some instant results, short cut based achievements are also short-lived as they are not based solid foundations.
On the other hand “”hard work” which has no clear cut goals and is narrowly focussed does not yield significant output either, regardless of how hard one works.
To separate oneself from the pack and step up another level one has to start focussing on the majors with a big picture in mind and avoid majoring in the minors.

With respect to SFI, minors can be viewed as just logging on to one ‘s homepage and ticking the red boxes. In answer to a question on the Forum, Gery (the SFI President) mentioned that, merely amassing vps will maintain our SFI status but will not necessarily guarantee a healthy financial return. In other words to move into the second group, most of us need to get involved in sales oriented tasks such as ECA and recruiting PRMs through Tripleclicks. This is on top of robust advertising to get more active PSAs as the stronger the team is, the higher the expected returns.
This kind of ventures requires both patience and persistence to yield results.

In summary, one can turn hard work into smart work by concentrating on the major issues. Short-term goals should be seen as a subset of long-term goals based on a bigger picture.

Working hard to me means by the time I am done my work related duties with SFI I am drained and not feeling a high level of positive feelings at the end of my SFI related tasks.

Working Smart often has me feeling energized and thinking outside of the box that I am able to put in more time to my SFI business for that day.

There is a big difference - working smart means working with the resources that you have and using them in a resourceful way. There is never a thought of scarcity or limitation when you work SMART.

SMART may be for your business practice to leverage the skills of another down line member who is able to write memos or intro letters for packages in a few minutes where it may take you more than 30 minutes - swap or reciprocate your skills with another affiliate in a Skill-Knowledge-Pool.

There is no right or wrong way to work the SFI business but there is always a more effective way to work the business - it's the effectiveness that you want to measure as being either "Hard" or "SMART"

Another way to define is "Hard = Force" vs "Smart = Power". Anything that is forced typically will run for a short duration then break down. Anything that runs powerfully can run forever without breaking down.

working hard and working smart are somehow related. To work hard simply mean 'get down on it'. To work smart, to me, simply mean 'apply some wisdom to your hard work'. To differentiate these two in our SFI business has to be narrow down to 'are we doing it rightly or wrongly'?

When you get down on it in your SFI business by not missing out on your vp streak, regular communication to downline means you are working hard to have a successful team.

BUT

If you apply some wisdom to your hard work by following the rules of success lay down in SFI means you are working smart.

So many affiliates are working hard but cry everyday of not having active team. We got some few downline then press on to turn them around. It's time to apply some wisdom to our business. I do see Mr Gery minding his own business by applying some wisdom all the time in introducing and changing many things in SFI/TripleClicks. Let that be your guide in minding your own business to be in d right group.

What is the difference between working hard...and working SMART in SFI? How do I make sure I'm in the second group?

I love this question because I was in the first group for a long time! I logged in everyday and did all of the actions but I still didn't make the money I needed to make. I did little advertising and mostly when I did it was free ads. I didn't have a clear image of the big picture. I didn't know where I was going in SFI so I felt lost. That's working hard . . . going through the motions with no sense of direction.

Now I'm learning to work smart. I have a definite plan that works. All anyone has to do is plug into the system and duplication is automatic. I can reach milestones because I know that all milestones are a combination of AVP and SVP. I earn all the AVP I can then I transfer buy the SVP. That's it. With all of the changes coming, I am teaching my team to think this way. The year 2016 is going to be the biggest year yet for SFI. The value of shares is going to skyrocket because active members will be supporting active members. That's what the comp plan rewards. No matter which milestone achievement is the goal, I know have a clear plan of action to support my team to ensure they reach milestones; therefore, I'll make milestones.

Working hard basically involves physical work done with dedication and commitment consuming more of ones time.

Working smart involves lesser time consumption, little physical work and its basically more of brainy or mental work comprising strategies and planning.


We do know, SFI is a serious business and it paves the way for passive income for a life time. All we need to do is to work from the comfort of our home.

We have been provided with all the tools to grow and succeed here. We are not under any pressure to invent something new.

Everything is well defined. Even the Rules of Success are clearly established. 3 Step plan is available. What else is required for us to win?

Its quite simple - To follow the guidelines provided. How can it be done?

* First, Establish your self.
* Second, Perform & Make it visible;
* Third, Create down lines;
* Fourth, Help them become strong and active - step by step;
* Fifth & Finally, Ensure they follow what you did, continuously.
* Study all training materials & implement a Plan of Action to:

1. Establish ECAs;
2. Create PRMs;
3. Promote Sale of TripleClicks Products;
4. Guide your Team to do these;
5. Monitor progress;
6. Make or suggest corrective actions;
7. Ensure, progress is made by every one continuously;

Conclusion:

All these involve Brainy Work which is nothing but smart work. When you do these, you yourself will find that you are in the Second Group.

Working Hard v/s Working $m@rT (Strong Message Advertising Recutring Talented)
According to me SMART means:-

'Strong' : First of All 'Your Dedication Towards SFI should be Very Strong'
'Message' : You should advertise with a good message and after recutring good conversation is also important.
'Advertising' : Your Advertisement should be consistent and that recruit Active affiliates .
'Recruiting': You should concentrate on recruiting daily, this should become your habit..
'Talented': This is were your 'SMAR' lies on 'T' Talented Active Affiliate. Concentrate Only on this.

Difference Between Them
1. When the new affiliates got to know the words "Keep Sponsoring Sponsoring And Sponsoring " they just go on Sponsoring, without tracking with keycodes which is very important to track 'which website is getting much new affiliates'.

2. While recutring PRM also many work HARD, they just expose the products to non-buyers (who definitely don't buy). This is great mistake. It should be smarter way where you should only concentrate on Actual Buyers. I suggest Offline Buyers like family friends and Colleagues.

3. Advertising HARD about ECA with low tricks like 'make money; sell on TC' , 'become ECA and get money' , 'please sell on Tripleclicks' definitely leads to struggle. It should completely change to SMART such as Personal Attire, Way of speaking, Way of Messages you send should seem prospects a Professional way.

4. New Sign Up Bonuses should be promoted in smart way. Be professional, you are in Professional Business.

5. Your replies on 'Question And Answer' websites must be completely PROFESSIONAL WAY.
