Good communication usually depends on having great listening skills. In SFI, we don't often have that opportunity since many of our members are inactive.

Good writing skills haven't changed. They have remained the same since the beginning. The only thing that has changed is the language you are writing in has evolved, as has the usage of that language. Therefore, the rules I put here are for current language skills.

1. Write in the most common words in your own language. These will translate the best in other languages. Stay away from Colloquial terms, and words such as Colloquial itself. Too many syllables. You are trying to reach your reader and not show off your big words.

2.Try to ascertain what your reader is interested in reading. SFI is a specific audience, it is people trying to make money on the internet, just as you are. Stick with items that will help you and them be a success. Gain some perspective from reading your members profile, checking their todo list, and following them on the Forum or wherever you might find them. Often their Facebook page may give you some indication as to their personality.

For instance if they are buying large numbers of Tcredits to bid on auctions or play the games, then you have a clue that they will read your post when you mention some Auction and game tips.

3. Don't send rough drafts. I repeat, don't send rough drafts. Put some effort into your writing by cleaning up your work. Often in writing a rough draft we write like we speak. This is very inefficient writing. There are words that don't need to be there, and rambling creeps in. These take up space, making the translation more difficult., and confusing the reader. Try to cull these words so your writing is more to the point. Be sure that every word says something pertaining to your subject.

4. Watch for rambling, stay on subject. It is best to just have one subject in a message. Especially, if it has to be translated. Write more frequently than put all your thoughts into one message. Most people today depend more on pictures and videos for information than the written word. So use urls for these items, in case they don't have space for pictures or videos.

5. Leave a lot of white space. Use extra paragraphs. Keep them short. A paragraph of one or two sentences, usually no more that four is easier to digest.

6. Writing takes practice. Try to write something every day. Read it and edit it, then have others read it too. This gives you some perspective. Have a very thick skin when you ask others to critique your writing because it is easy to get upset and feel less than adequate. Remember that the number one writing skill is listening. Your critic might actually have a great point or two for you.

7. After you have edited the piece completely, then read it for the tone of your writing. Often when someone new to writing edits, the tone of the piece becomes harsh. Go back over it and soften your writing with a few kind words.

8. Stay focused. That is why using an outline is great. In information writing, it keeps you and the reader more focused on the important facts.

9. Always be sure to give credit when credit is due. Don't put someone's thoughts into your writing without giving them credit. It won't sound like you anyway, and give the writer a feeling that you might be hiding something and not being fully honest

10.Good writing comes with practice and reading great writing. A great place to read great writing is in quotes, and short sayings of competent individuals. The best way to improve writing is to improve what you read. Read twice as much as you write, and this alone will improve your writing skills.

Practice. Practice. Practice. That's the only way to get good at something is to do it over and over with constructive criticism along the way. Improve with each writing and soon you will writing proficiently. Also you can learn from other works:

Typically good readers are good writers too because they have a broad vocabulary to write from. You can also join a writing group, get a writing coach, start a blog or a journal, proofread what you write, and be proficient in English or the language that you are writing in.

Is a powerful connections but there many ways to communicate .The SFI has provided many ways you can email ,if you are not good in that you can send e -Card ,you can phone

Also the more you read the SFI lessons the better you become
I was not good in writing ,even so much afraid to ask questions ,but as time goes on now am trying ,I will say it in my own way ,what matter is that You must understand what you are doing .that is the most important thing ,And how to put it in your own word for them to understand it

Language translator
If you communicate in your Language ,there people in SFI who can translate.
Yes I can say sometimes what those who are educated can do in a minute may take me ten minute s but it is done .it is for you to be brave so that you can explain yourself to your affiliate
If you write what you want to say ,the help is there ,also if you read more the the example of how to write the welcome letter is done you only need to copy and paste then fill names

Sending E-card
Just choose the card that shows what you want ,just add name and little encouraging word
SFI had done lots of home work ready for us
The most important is that you must recruit and make your sales supper ,with this people are there to help you duplicate .
Exchange CSA or PSA
Instead of you to become worrying do the new exchange those who do not work after lots of letter
Reassigned to one of your affliates still same
Do not worry much but understand ,do the practicals ,make sure your standing order is done

Communicating with your team is a major role at SFI, and good communication is important.

Remember; though, you are a team leader first and not a writer. There are other ways to communicate with your team members if you are not a good writer.

To write to your team members you need to be able to:
1-Express yourself clearly in English
2-Express yourself clearly in your language, if English is not your first language.
3-Spell correctly, you can always use spell check before sending your letters.

Fortunately there are sample written messages at SFI that you can use. There are resources such as:
-Sample newsletters,
-Welcome messages
-eCards
-Text ads

If you are still worried, ask your sponsor for help in sending specific newsletters. Using duplication, he/she would be happy to help and may have just what you are looking for.

Lastly, if you don't excel as a writer and are better at talking on the phone, social media, Skype or others, use them as well to enhance communication.

After placing team leading first, you can start looking at ways to improve yourself as a writer It is good for self development.

As it stands, the most important treat for living is communication. With more than 200 countries from around the world, communication is the only thing that keeps all together as affiliates.

Communicating regularly with your team is an easy way to encourage teamwork and build enthusiasm among your PSAs. However, coming up with a regular stream of pertinent, interesting, and helpful content is often time consuming and NOT always easy

So I believe SFI has not left her affiliates helpless concerning this issue. Many affiliates are not English spoken and believe me when I say some can't even read except someone read to them, they only understand buying PSAs to build team. So, with much observation from the Forum especially many affiliates have been found less skillful at communicating. Pardon for coming that straight, because that's the reason most affiliates are not participating at Forum talks.

Though some help are now available. A new affiliate-driven "Ideas" feature at the SFI PSA Mailer tool could save you and your team a huge amount of time while making sure you get good, pertinent information to your PSAs, but I tell you it doesn't make you a better writer.

Here are few things I do, only to minimize mistakes and at times remove all errors.

1. Make a Draft
I believe the brain is at the tips of the pen. Write the proposed message however way you feel like presenting it. Here you don't have to worry if you are writing correctly or not. Express yourself in the message as you want your affiliates to view it. You may decide to write it first in your language. After you have done this, type the message using the computer system.

2. Use the Translator
In case your message was originally not written in English, you have the translation tool available everywhere on net. Choose your language and the language you wish to convert to, then copy your messages.

3. Use Word editor
Trust me if you have used the translator, there would be many grammatical errors because the translator would do a direct translate not minding the construction of the words. Spelling that are not correct would be highlighted in red and those with grammatical errors would be highlighted in green or blue as the case may be. Correct the words that are misspelled and if you are lucky enough some grammatical errors would be correct also.

4. Check up you words
Use a good Dictionary to check if your verbs, noun meanings fits the message you are sending such as synonymous words may not fit in every statement. See if they are correlating and change if necessary. Else, your affiliates may not get the content of the message clearly.

5. Get people to edit your message
Yes, it's kinda funny but sometimes it's good you let you sponsor, friends and family help in editing. You sponsors who knows your limitations can help out since its for the advancement of the business, I see team work there.

6. Read the message to yourself.
Finally, reading the message to yourself help you know if your written English is getting better. Always have a copy of you messages because they are keys to helping you become better writers.

I believe this is simple enough as I know many adult are busy with daily work, taking care of the family and taking English classes may not be that easy. Just do this anytime you are set to communicate with your downline.

We can learn to write well by doing it.

Practice!
Over and over again. Go back to how you learned as a child, just by doing it, looking at others how they do it and imitate. That is how you learned as a kid. Trying, failing and try it again. That is called; Failing Forward. Do you remember how you learned to ride a bike? Exactly. Go on, practice some more.
Read!
The best advice writers of all sort give is: if you want to learn how to write well, you have to read a lot.
SFI has a lot of samples of good writing. Read it, copy it, change one or two lines to make it more personal. Read the mails of your upline, see if you like their style, then ask if you can copy it and add some lines of yourself.
From your Heart!
Natalie Goldberg wrote a wonderful book on how to write from your heart. It helped me to just write. Not being hindered by what others might think of it. Not judging my self. Just write, who cares about style or misspelling, that is for later when you want to edit what you wrote. But first, write straight from your heart whatever you want to say to your team. Put it away, look at it the next day and see if you need to edit it.
Ask!
With practice and writing from your heart you still can feel insecure. But he, that is just a thought; it is only true if you believe that thougt. You can ask for help. You might have someone in your upline, in the forum or even in your team who has great writing skills. Ask them for help. Send them your concept email and ask if they want to have a look at it. You might be surprised how much we love to help you.
Addictive!
But, be careful. Once you get started learning how to write well, you might gonna love it. It is kind of addictive to put your thoughts into words, to bring your message out in the world. And that's the point you will probably start a blog so you can write everytime you feel like it and the people around you will love it too.

I wonder if you are asking this question because of the inactivity of your PSAs, and/ or CSAs. I know that effective communication expresses your thoughts, ideas, tips etc clearly in order to cause a response more likely positive than negative.
We are assisted by SFI as we have sample letters, ASKSC, and the Forum. We are not graded on the contents of our communication.
• The best kind of communication I feel that will make a difference is being honest with our team.
• Share your good and bad experiences.
• Leading by example is a greater form of communication.
• Answer any question that is asked by your team without using big words to impress but simple words that even a child can follow those instructions.
• Follow up with the team member to make sure they understood your response.

Remember that if someone has another motive for joining SFI other than a desire to work hard and succeed, no form of communication will move them.

That's very important and intelligent question Darla because answer to this question is vital not only for building SFI business but also as a whole in our lives. That is so because if we look historically all great leaders of the world were communicators par excellence. A good communicator achieves his goals quite easily. He conveys his intentions effortlessly.

Now the question with us is how can we develop good writing skills. I will try to explain with my own example.

For first five months I wasn't active in SFI but I continued to read emails from SFI because these emails were very educative and were helping me to understand my previous home based business in a much better way. The communications from my earlier business were not anywhere near to SFI education. I was purchasing training materials from my earlier business which are totally free in SFI. My research here has found a conclusion that most other home based businesses are copying the business model of SFI. I could understand this in a much better way because communications from SFI are very educative and excellent. This wonderful writing skills of SFI Leadership is miles ahead of any comparable businesses. Can you see the clear advantage of good writing skills?

This prompted me to take part in SFI activities more and more and I started writing single letter words in Forum tab. In fact my very first post in Forum was rejected because it didn't carry any value. I took this as a challenge and started writing more and more in Forum posts and also encouraged my downlines and motivated them.

Then I started writing answers to Ask SC questions regularly. One of my answers got 3-10 place and I received 25 Versa Points. This encouraged me tremendously and I started writing more and more answers and few days back I was declared the Top author with most votes. I am really thrilled now and now I am writing more and more answers. Of course I make sure that my grammar as well as spellings are correct.

Darla, you have to make up your mind that you have to learn to write well and if you start it, after few failures you will become a good writer as well as a communicator par excellence. You can do it. All can do it.Take the first step.

You can learn to write well and communicate with your team by;

1. Read newsletters from SFI and your upline regularly. When reading, look out for ones you like or enjoy and study the style use. As a starter, you can edit such newsletter to personalize it before sending to your team.

2. Develop the habit of reading sample write-ups to learn more of writing well.

3. Visit "Tips", "Stream", "ASK SC" and "Forum" pages regularly to read posts of different affiliates. Doing this will expose you to different styles as well as enrich you vocabularies.

4. Develop your skill of writing well further by reading newsletters from other sources outside SFI.

All the above will be meaningful if you do writing practice regularly. Start the practice by writing to your team once a week, at least. Do post on your "Stream" page thrice a week. As you grow in your skill, contribute to this platform.

Darla, Hi!

We live in an age when we are constantly bombarded with communications of every sort – actually most of it is designed to persuade us to buy or do something or to a particular way of thinking. The communication is given a “spin” and to protect ourselves from falling prey to the “spin doctors” we need to learn all sorts of ways to distinguish truth from “spin”.

I would suggest that we shouldn’t aspire to become a “spin doctor”. Rather let us strive for integrity. Of course, we are already halfway there, because SFI is such a great ethical company. We already stand on “the shoulders” of its reputation and record, its guarantees and the quality of its productS and service. I really love all these things about SFI!

We don’t need to be a modern day Shakespeare or a word-smith. Rather, I recommend that we just be “ourselves”. Talk from the heart, talk from conviction, talk with passion. Most importantly, talk from experience. And write as you would speak everyday, using everyday language.

But before you do your writing do your research. Check the facts. (It’s a real shame that so many “answers” in Ask SC and the Forum are incorrect or, at best, incomplete.)

Finally before submitting your answer read it through again. Perhaps even speak it aloud. If it doesn’t sound right or if something is unclear, re-write it. And here’s a tip -for really important communications I write it one day then sleep on it and review it again the next morning before sending it.

And the best thing you can do Darla, is START writing. A few bumbles along the way is not a criminal offence AND you will learn as you go. Remember, YOU CAN DO IT!
