I however find it difficult to see an affiliate looking at you as a dictator, because there is actually nothing to dictate. You teach, you encourage, you cajole, you support.

You teach the affiliate what to do and how to do it. Remember, examples are better than precepts, so you get better results through leading by example.

Have you been doing what you are asking the affiliate to do? Show the affiliate.

Have you been consistent in doing your daily reviews? Show the affiliate.

Do you want to convince the affiliate that the surest way to be and maintain an EA status every month is by having a standing order of 125 Tcredits per month? Ensure you have one yourself and show the affiliate your badge, bragging rights and bonuses you have on Daily Grand Draw as a result.

Do you support the affiliate when, say, the affiliate has just a few versa points to hit the EA status for the month? Do it. I do so regularly for the very few serious affiliates I have, and they are on.
The latter, more than anything else shows you are far from selfish, but that you are also interested in their success.

There are few ways to encourage them:
1. Share your story
2. Show your appreciation for these who are active
3. When someone of your team reaches EA status, reassign him/her some of your PSA that lives in her/his country
4. Answer their questions as soon as possible and never use the word "must". Remind that everyone has his/her own choices
5. Always send e-cards and don't forget to say "Thank you" and apologize if you reply late of some questions
6. Show sincere interest
7. Be honest
The words are the most powerful way to motivate and if you do it with heart, it creates miracles.

Choose the wording of your communications carefully.

Try to guide your affiliates with suggestions rather than statements of "...do..." or "...don't...". It can be difficult sometimes to remember that these are your partners, not your employees.

My suggestions...? I would suggest... You might want to... Try doing this... You might want to ... if you have the time.

Whenever your affiliates ask for your help, always try to formulate your answers along suggestive lines, including telling them the things that have worked best for you.

To encourage your affiliates to get them active and stay active in a manner that wouldn’t make you sound selfish or dictator is by finding out what motivates them in joining SFI.

Instead of telling them all the time what to do and make them dependent on your instruction to move forward in their journey with SFI, you can get them active by doing the following:

- You can organize a contest in your Leadership page based on VersaPoints and award prizes such as TCredits for the most VP accumulated in a single month.

- You can offer Gift Certificate if they start sponsoring their own affiliates. Be creative and realistic in setting up the requirements (how many affiliates to sponsor per month?). This is another way of encouraging them to start doing their Training tab and Marketing tab; apply them and sponsor affiliates.

- You can also offer a share of your S-Builder co-op, if they become EA and maintain it.

- If they become Team Leader and maintain it, depending on your budget, you can sweeten the pot by adding affiliate reassignment and Gift Certificate.

- Other qualifications that you can bring up for contests and get them active are as follows:

1. Referring TC/W3 members

2. Top 300 in VP

3. Distribute TC Gift Cards

4. Top five ranking in their class, etc.

The above activities will motivate them to get active and stay active, as you involved your active participation setting your example and offering rewards/incentives. .

This will not make you look selfish or dictator. In fact you’re giving them something valuable for their development and growth in SFI.

You need to find out what motivates them, and see how you can offer encouragement and incentives along the way to help them achieve their dreams

letter, then a 3rd day letter and in each remind them you send short notes in
your Stream Post.

I tell mine to ask me questions on the Stream so I can help them. Also remind them
that the Forums are open 24/7 for specific questions.

You are looking for 5 excited leaders just like you. I tell them I am building
a second income.

I am not interested in pulling my affiliates along if they will not even read the material.
Do as Gery suggested and work with the workers.

A very good question it is! I have answered it below based from my acquired experience with SFI to date.

Affiliates are mostly newbies who have stumbled intonSFI through social media or word of mouth and have a keen interest in learing how to make money online and succeed in doing so. The best way to lure them into SFI business is through honesty. Your personal experience with SFI is the best selling point when introducing or strengthening your downline. Think of your personal experience with SFI when you started, the challenges and what you did to troubleshoot, and use it to help your downline.

Most people have tried various online marketing businesses which have disappointed them and they are at the verge if giving up. SFI has the credibility to show that they are a stable business and have real resources for training, which if you encouraged them to keenly do first, they will eventually learn how it works as well as equip themselves with the best training materials available for free on the program. Having created a good profile and an understanding with SFI, you will be able to discern from their response to you on email, a2a chat and a close review of their actions from their personal SFI profiles via genaelogy reports what each requires from you as their sponsor. Most of them get stuck and give up when they do not know what to do next after enrolling/signing up with SFI. This can be a life saving moment where you the sponsor responds/advises through tips on the areas/fields you find are unattended.

Not all affiliates will respond positively to having to work daily, weekly, month a after month for a business/online program that doesn't generate income fast, so it is important to openly discuss when this is possible and insist on SFI being a good investment that requires a lot of hard work and sacrifice for visible results, eventually. It is a long term investment that requires a lot of hardbwork which includes marketing, selling and buying of TripleClicks products , enrolling ECA'S and member listings which generate commissions that are translated to a residual income, for life!

Once you are able to take your new affiliates through this process, they will acquire entrepreneural business sense which only serious affiliates will stay. Do not dismiss or give up in the latter, those who may not continue or give up, they may change their mind in future and come back again amdnseek your advise to restart.

SFI is a one-day-at-a-time process that only makes business sense along the way and most successful affiliates, on record, made their first income from 6 months and better incomes from 2-5years of hard work and commitment.

Do you understand the number one complaint of SFI affiliates? The answer is that their sponsor does not support them. Many affiliates who sign up send emails to their sponsor asking for help just to get started but unfortunately do not get a response. The first step to get an affiliate active is to send them a welcome email for the purpose of giving them a brief introduction to SFI. In the welcome letter you don't want to give to many details but it is important to give them the link to read the basics so that they can get a bird's eye view on how SFI works.

The second email should introduce them to affiliate marketing because this is what SFI is all about, so this is what all your sign-ups need to understand in order to learn how to start a business.

The first thing you need to do in order to get your affiliates to be active is proper communication after the welcome email because you want your affiliates to know that you are a true friend and that your agenda is not just about making money. A dictator as you know is driven by power, this means that they want to be leaders they want to be powerful and invincible by oppression. Their tactics is to use people to achieve a certain goal and once it is achieved they betray by either killing or discarding people once they use them so of course your affiliates will be skeptical. A caring sponsor emails affiliates to know how they are doing and to offer the best kind of help possible, a dictator on the other hand would bully their affiliates or employees with email intended to twist arms or bullying into upgrading or setting a standing order. Instead you should help them to make money not only by teaching them but by creating a blog or website used for promoting different gateways from your movers so that you can help them get a sale of 1500 VP and adding them to your coop to get signups and TC members.

I am giving you an example in writing to show you how to use the proper actions needed to get them started and keep them active. You are proving with your actions that you really want them to succeed as opposed to just being greedy for money.

I worry about this also.

It is very easy when using email to read it in a totally different way than how it has been meant to be read. Anything I send out, I read and re-read, trying to take it from the perspective of the recipient. If I feel it can be taken out of context or it sounds harsh, I change the wording and keep working on it until I am satisfied that I connect correctly with the majority of my team (I know it will be impossible to get it across correctly to all).

If I want to say something specific, I try to make it constructive, and use examples of how I have done the same and where it has led me.

As we are always told that this is our business and we are to treat it as such, somewhere in my email, at times I have included something along the lines of, - as this is your business, I just want to make you aware of ......., the decision is totally up to you, but I just wanted to make you aware of this-

If they don't know, then they cannot decide, and hopefully I have encouraged activity without demeaning anyone.

Here's my view ....

In my mind I am helping others do what I am doing and that is earning a Residual Income. I never feel selfish doing this as I don't view my affiliates as "income".

I think first and foremost that I want THEM to succeed and so I channel ALL my energies into that. Even if it means only having a few minutes to myself at the end of the day to do my own To-Do List.

It's MY job to build MY Residual Income - not theirs .... So I go about my business and I take tremendous positivity from my Movers and I really don't let inactive Affiliates bother me one tiny little iota !!!! My view is it's their loss - not mine, as I am still active and doing something about my business and they are not.

So who is winning ? Me of course because it stands to reason that if they are doing "nothing" and I am doing "something", then I must be winning. My Residual Income will continue to grow if I continue to be Active.

I think therefore I am - René Descartes.

I still continue to involve ALL affiliates in my communications at least ONCE a week but, I don't spend any time hoping they will awaken whilst trying to activate them. I just do my job and move onto my next goal/task/affiliate.

As for the dictator part .... keeping in mind all of the above ...... try to also keep in mind that it's "their" business not YOURS. You probably wouldn't take too kindly to some-one dictating to you so just try to treat others with the same respect you require your peers to give you :-)

Take it from experience, you can always "encourage" your affiliates (downline, team) with words of encouragement, but to make them "stay active" well, that's something altogether different. What you must first take into consideration is the "built-in" desire of each individual in your downline. That "built-in" desire can be seen by his/her daily activity. Monitor them daily, if possible, and construct periodic emails with words of "encouragement" based on the performances of your most active people. Use them (your MOST active people) as part of the basis for delivering your words of encouragement to the others (Your Less Active People).

As far as "coming across as selfish or as a dictator" as you put it, you must also take into consideration the words you are using and how you are using them. For example, "don't" is one of the more common words used in emails of all kind. Instead of saying to one of your downline members "don't" contact me before you look up the answers for yourself, say something like, "As part of your early-on training, please log onto your Training INDEX (https://www.sfimg.com/Training/) and click on 'Getting Started Training' or any one of the other training fields. If you are still unsure, feel free to contact me personally by leaving me a message at the affiliate center, or email me directly at: [email protected].'"

Point is, Janet, you want them to become less dependent on you right from the start, but you do it by being kind and supportive while keeping the lines of communication and support open to them.
