That is what teamwork and team leadership is.

A team leader will continue to motivate, provide acknowledgement and recognition, support wherever possible.

You succeed only when your team succeeds. If you have someone on your team who is highly driven, motivated and enthusiastic, you need to keep feeding and encouraging that.

If they have moved quickly up the Team Leader ranks in their first month or two, don't confuse this with advancement just yet, it may be that they have collected all their training VPs and made a financial investment. The test will be whether they can sustain that in following months. They may not have team-building and sponsoring skills yet, which you need to teach and encourage.

There will always be something you can help your team members with, regardless of the stage or level they are at. Perhaps they have done well recruiting their own team, and are ready to explore another aspect of SFI, such as opening their own ECA store, and maybe you have experience with the ECA program. Or maybe they want to build their own website, and you can help with that.

Let their success drive you forward too, aim to be the person they choose to come to for advice, by advancing your own knowledge and skills, building on your working relationship and keeping channels of communication open.

Allow their progress to motivate you - their success, and your earnings from that success, may afford you the ability to offer more team incentives, rewards, contests, etc. Try out new things yourself, and if they work for you, let all your team members know your ideas and how they work.

There may be times when your 'star' team member hits a 'plateau' or may even drop back a little. This is when you may need to use your experience of being a more long-standing member of SFI to encourage them that many of us go through a phase like that and that they need to persevere and not give up.

You may be able to learn from each other, and maybe even pool your resources to work on a joint project for the benefit of both of your downlines, e.g. a training website, a youtube channel, or a social media group.

Be as excited about their success as if it were your own - because it is!

When I started looking for a company that I could build a home business on-line one of the things that I paid close attention to is what would happen in one of your referrals was able to advance faster than you could.

I found many companies that if one of your down-line was able to do better than you they would either “break off” (be taken from you) or they would pass you up and be placed in the next highest affiliate in your up-line and you would no longer receive any commissions from that referral.

With SFI everything is so different. When you see a promising “star rising within your team you do not have to worry about losing them if they end up passing your personal team-leader level.

As far as training and supporting the affiliates in your team that are rising faster than you are, don’t let their advancement hinder you from performing your obligations as their sponsor. You must remember that no matter how high an affiliate in your personal down-line achieves you will always be the leader of that team.

Continue to “train” and to support your team members even if all of them have passed you up in rank or levels. Why? Good question – glad you asked.

The best training you can pass on to your teammates no matter what level they have achieved is to give them an “working” example to follow. Even those who have passed your level will see that you are doing what is required (and more) and that my friend is leading by example which is honored and recognized by all your teammates.

With SFI a teammate advancing faster than you is a plus and you can encourage their activity and assist them if they need it. All they can do is push you up to higher levels faster than what you can do on your own

Before answering your question, I would like to address the aspects of moving up to a higher rank and the difference of training and support. Presenting these two aspects will give you a clear picture of the course of action that you need to take.

You should continue to try training and supporting them, because you know the importance of communication in building relationship. A well coordinated effort in building your downline will pay off in the long run as you maintain to stay connected with them.

What are the factors that would influence your PSAs/CSAs to move up to the higher rank faster than you?

- They’re fast learners.

- They’re well disciplined in their time management by consistently putting in their time and effort to learn the SFI system and they’re go-getters.

- They’re result-oriented driven.

- They have set up both their short and long term goals.

- They invest financially by allocating and maintaining a sound budget to expand the growth of their SFI business.

- On the other hand, an affiliate can move up faster to higher rank by collecting all his/her training AVPs in his/her first month and topping it up with financial investment. Time will tell, if his/her business model is sustainable.

What’s the difference between training and supporting your PSAs/CSAs?

- You can support the members of your team on a variety of ways, including training, coaching, mentoring and providing emotional support. It can all seem confusing to many people to explain the difference between them.

- Training is a planned and structured process aimed at improving affiliate’s work-related skills and knowledge.

Equipped with the above information you can do the following to your affiliates, who advance faster than you:

- In the case of your affiliates who are experienced marketer, ask their input, tips and advices for the development and growth of your whole team. Particularly, you can ask their cooperation to share their marketing plan and strategy for the benefit of everyone in your SFI organization.

- For affiliates who collect all their training AVPs in their first month and are relying on investing more financially to move up to higher rank quickly, you will need to emphasize to them the proper training to run a profitable SFI business. They would need your coaching and mentoring. This would be the perfect situation where you can make use of the knowledge you gained from the first case.

- In both cases always be prepared to provide your emotional support especially when your affiliates are having challenges which may result in a sudden inactivity. This is the time when they need your encouragement and motivation the most.

It is a great motivation to see your affiliates advancing, whether they’re moving up faster than you or not, continue to train and support them. Everyone has the potential to become a top performer and a tremendous asset to your SFI business.

Absolutely! They are still your team and you are still their sponsor, so you would still want to support them the best way you can.

When someone joins our team, there is no way to know the type of education that one has, knowledge in marketing, affiliate programs or sales, that one has and also, the type of experience all around that one has.

But... no matter what type of training that one does have, sharing in your own experiences and knowledge that you have learned and sharing that information, can become an eye-opener or an open door or a gold mine for someone else.

Keep in mind, that everyone has their own method and their own ideas on trying to create and work, the type of success that they are seeking.

You could also ask your PSA or any other team member, to share in their experiences with you too.

Just because you are a sponsor, doesn't mean that you cannot ask one of your successful team members, what they are doing to grow their business.

Or, what has worked for them, and what has not worked for them, (in a selected topic, sponsoring, advertising, etc...).

We are all on the same team, and the more we all share in our experiences and knowledge, and help each other, the more we all will become successful.

I would continue to provide guidance and congratulations to the team member. The one thing we all have to remember is that we need to work together. This is not a one way street. I let all of my team members know that "If we work together, we succeed together".

My personal experience with your question is this. Just yesterday, the Second Home CSA's were processed. As I checked thru the CSA's that I was awarded, 1 of my new team members has been part of SFI for 2 years now. He has many EA2 PSA's and looks like his business is going very well for him. I am thinking to myself, this individual obviously has good practices to share and I would love to work with him to learn these myself.

At the very beginning of my journey into SFI, I found myself behind my two team leaders in rank; in fact they pushed me to become a Team Leader. I believe strongly that you should let your PSA move forward for the following reasons:-

1. They will understand the program much better left on their own devices. You can monitor their progress through the VP Ledger so nudge them if you feel they need some guidance. An E Card would not go amiss.

2. Some PSAs do like to work on their own without too much pushing from their Sponsor; this is a consideration you must give.

3. Not all PSAs need guidance and not all of them will have financial constraints - some will take up all the opportunities presented to them by SFI faster and there is nothing wrong in that. Let them progress.

We usually have a very good mix of PSAs in SFI from various cultural backgrounds with each one having her/his own level of know-how. As a Sponsor, you need to ensure that your PSAs know that earning is SFI is made a lot easier with an active team. Help them realize that financial investment alone will not advance them.

Get an active downline, do not advance on your own but with your team.

When you say "advance", there are various interpretations; is it by rank, income, knowledge, active downline or what? However, I suppose you mean by rank or active downline because those may be the obvious ones you can easily see, so it does not mean that because your PSA has advanced past you, he/she does not require help or support any more.

In the first instance, you may not know how he/she was able to advance more than you to the extent to think that he/she does not need any more guidance, assistance or support in order to attain more advanced level. Some buy their way up without proper strategy to sustain that success on the long run and if this is the case, don't you think guidance and support are still necessary to help your PSA understand that a sustained advancement and success is the key to long term financial freedom? Yes of course.

Lets even assume your PSAs advanced as a result of hard work, dedication, skill, knowledge etc and he/she is able to stand alone without necessarily in need of your training and support, you still need to show some concern and render support, but in a much different way. For example, you may need to bring some new SFI policies and updates to his/her attention in case he/she misses an announcement, you may occasionally need to send gifts in appreciation of hard work and always eulogise him/her when certain milestones are achieve, after all you benefit from his/her success.

No man is an island and nobody has a monopoly of knowledge, so if you are very observant there may be some areas you may need to provide guidance and training, irrespective of what you think of his/her advanced status in SFI. This is because the advancement may not be as a result of a holistic approach to tap into all income generating activities here, so you may need to provide guidance and support in order to further diversify his/her income, unless you are very inexperienced and have nothing much to offer in way of assistance and training.

It is very important not to be intimidated by the success of your PSA or see your PSA as your competitor, but treat all of them, including those who have supposedly advanced past you as partners in business and be confident, selfless and helpful at all times.

What an interesting question! If someone you sponsor advances faster than you, my advice would be to continue to support him to the best of your ability.
You may find that he outgrows your training, but that is okay. You are on the same team and will work together. I always try and develop friendly relationships with all my team members, and ask for their input, ideas and suggestions as to how to grow our team together.

I have sent copies of my advertising ideas to my leading PSAs and asked for their input. Usually some respond and I try to take their ideas on board and modify what I have written. If your PSA has had experience in marketing before joining SFI, your role may be in guiding him as to how this business works. Once he has a handle on that, he may very well be giving you advice and training in marketing. So what?

SFI affiliates are not under each other. We are each running our own businesses and if some, for whatever reason, streak out from the rest of us and advance quicker even than the one who enrolled him, that is how it should be. That is one of the things that sets SFI apart from some shady pyramid style schemes/scams.

Keep communicating with all your team members and perhaps you can enlist your star's help in training the rest of the team. Set up some online training such as a webinar, and have him as the speaker or guide, to answer questions from the rest of the team. Learn to work with that person. Such an affiliate would be a tremendous asset to your business.

My response to this question is a resounding YES!

Your role in their business as a sponsor is important still - even when he or she may advance further or faster than you do.

When advancement is fast that simply means to me that the affiliate has found their niche with SFI and are rolling with the program. Your presence is important so you will need to inquire with them what your role in their business will be -is it to assist with finding business articles for he or she to read, is it to forward on encouragement messages, or is it to be available when he or she needs to discuss ideas.

SFI is not an achievement done alone but is achieved because of all who make up this fantastic business. You may even sign up an ECA member whose product then is advertised by the affiliate you sponsor so your efforts do assist in their SFI growth as well as improve the visibility of the ECA product.

As you can see your involvement is still important but it is important to communicate with your down line members to solicit feed-back as to how you may serve them best. Let the affiliate you sponsor tell you how you can help.

Training is preparing individuals to develop skills necessary to perform a task competently.

If your affiliate is competent to do a certain task, you would not need to train him in that task. you will be wasting your time.

As sponsors we are advice to lead by example and be awesome sponsors. We must however be careful not to treat our affiliates as individuals who need to be trained.

If your affiliates are advancing faster than you, take a look at why you cannot
keep up.

Are they more knowledgeable than you? If they are, how can you train them?

If they are not necessarily more knowledgeable, you would support their efforts and motivate them to grow.

You may wish to exclude them from certain newsletters. This way you can focus on those who need more guidance.

Continue to:
--Congratulate them
--Send them newsletters appropriate to them
--Recognize their accomplishments as you would any other
--You can reward them for their achievements
--Be there should they have any questions

Be thankful that members of your downline are advancing.
