Some SFI affiliate members believe that a new person should build their team up until the activities of their team “push” them into the Team Leader ranks. I personally find it hard to suggest this method to a new affiliate who is on fire to advance as soon as possible.

I do not believe that SFI has made a mistake in making it so someone can reach top levels within in their first couple weeks or months. There is a purpose for everything and every method that has been created for the affiliates to use or adhere to.

I would however caution the new affiliate that the following month it may not be so easy to accomplish the qualifications of Team Leader because the abundant AVPs (Action VP) won’t be available and that they will have to find ways to raise their AVPs total for the following month.

We are all in this business to make money – which we can all agree on. SFI has made it so people can spend their money and become a Team Leader without building a team first. Does this make their spending any worse? The volume in purchases is still there. SFI benefits and so will you as their up-line sponsor.

I personally have achieved the Team Leader status and I do not have an active front line large enough to push me into the leader position. But I maintain that level none the less. The perks I receive are worth the finances I must go through to qualify for that level.

I teach all my affiliates to stretch themselves as far as they can “if” they are capable of maintaining that position and it does not become a problem that will set them back enough to hurt their business building activities.

Remember our teammates are adults which and are fully capable of making important decisions in regards to their finances and what they can handle each month. Our part as sponsors is to let them know what it is going to cost them to maintain that status.

In short; I say do not discourage anyone from trying to advance in rank, but make sure that they know the cost – Then let them make their own decisions.

I am so grateful this question has been asked, and YES you should advise the new PSAs to slow down and take their time to read and understand the system before they make team leader position. Firstly not everyone is Internet savvy and will understand the SFI system quickly. If they just click away all their points in the first month, they are going to struggle to make EA on the second month, with having to place a standing order.

I have been advising my downline to read the articles provided several times before they actually click the points away. I have taken the time to explain each step each day and, await feedback from my team.

Secondly making Team Leader before you have a team is a waste of time, they will not yet have the downline or team to guide. There is a very great saying "Rome was not built in a day", the same thing can be said about working or building your business with SFI.

My experience has taught me take the time to read and read, advertise and advertise, once you have one or two people or even more than you can become team leader that month, the benefits work better and you will than deserve being called a Team Leader, cause you have a team.

So yes advising a new PSA to slow down is the best. Wishing you and your team all the success in building your business with SFI.

That actually is a good question that should lead to a good tip for new members. When I started out, I eagerly ingested every point available to me - all the Launchpad tutorials, etc - and I made Silver TL my first month.

Of course, once those one-time VersaPoints were used up I found I was going to be nowhere near even EA without spending some money. It was Ok with me because I enjoy the auctions (even though I can never win!) and the games so T-Credits get me to EA. I can then hit Bronze TL by purchasing a few products from EAs at TCs and completing my To-Do list each day.

My advice to new affiliates would be to complete your to do list daily and then only do the tutorials that get you up to EA status, then leave the remainder of the tutorial points for your second month. Doing it that way those who cannot invest the first few months can still hit EA and EA2 without spending any money.

Of course, I would always recommend to affiliates to use TC for transfer shopping - buy all your gifts there, household products, etc. - but they may need to be involved with the program a few months before they feel comfortable spending money.

Personally, I think that as Sponsors and Co-Sponsors, we need to welcome our new affiliates then allow them to learn and grow at their own pace.

If a new affiliate is serious about building a business, they are going to read and do the recommended reading and Launchpad actions. The Launchpad does a very good job of laying out the fundamentals needed and they will figure it out pretty quickly.

To tell them anything other than offering encouragement, is to treat them like an employee and we are not anyone's boss. We are Leaders. So let's lead by example.

One thing I have noticed about new people is that they fly through the LaunchPad lessons in a matter
of hours, maybe even in just a few minutes, just to get the VP. When they are done they have no idea how to proceed. I like to suggest in the very beginning that new PSAs take the time to follow all the links in the LaunchPad lessons to gain a good view of what SFI is all about.

When they understand what is going on here, and when they have sponsored some PSAs, then they should begin to think about being a Team Leader. Having the distinction of BTL, STL, or whatever doesn't put money in anyone's pocket, and we are here to make money.

So I say, you should advise your people to build a team first. Care about your team. Lead by your example, and your team will want to be like you.

When new Affiliates are recruited, it is the desire of every Sponsor that they become active.  
Affiliates that becomes Team Leader in their first month most often than not go all the way to become Serious Team Builder.

For an Affiliate to become Team Leader, he must have generated a sale or made a purchase of a product or service worth 1500 Sales VersaPoints. This is one of the main activities every active Affiliate is expected to do in SFI. Can it then be wrong if an essential task is performed in the very first month?

Yes, we all know that getting Action VersaPoints (AVP) towards Team Leader qualification is a challenge from the second month. What should be done is that the Sponsor should mentor the affiliate on how to generate AVP. One important thing he should be guided to do is Sponsoring of Affiliates. Free and Paid methods of advertising should be introduced to him. Along with this should be training on duplication. The AVP he gets from his qualifying affiliates could help him re qualify as a Team Leader. Other means of getting AVP such as participating in PriceBender Auctions up to 500 AVP, playing Eager Zebra Games up to 200 AVP, sending Team mails (PSA or CSA) up to 120 AVP, rating Sponsor and SFI 15 AVP, reviewing Member TConnect site etc should be explained.

lt is when the fresh Team Leader is left to himself or herself that they get discouraged because of their inability to re qualify.

Therefore, you should not slow down the momentum or kill the enthusiasm of Affiliates that become Team Leader so soon but you should rather work with them to sustain the status quo and improve it.

The general answer is no, slow down in growing is not a good advice.

Nonetheless, there is a potential mistake to be avoided, and given the way you ask, it looks like you have already seen it: We don't want qualifiers as Team Leaders, we need actual Team Leaders,... huge difference.

Being a Team Leader without a team it's pointless and a waste of the resources invested in the effort for qualification. The "so quickly" part of the questions looks like a reference to the use of Launchpad and Intermediate Actions that are available only at the beginning. Such resources are a boost, but since a business like ours is not a sprint, using such resources without any other purpose than qualification for once can lead to immediate lose of momentum, with people getting lost after it and eventually quitting.

Therefore, its a matter of completion: Boost should be used when there is something to boost; learn, build a team as fast as you can but keeping feet on the ground and use your resources wisely.

Resume: Slow down? never. Speed up, but in solid ground.

Should you advise your new PSAs to slow down and not qualify as Team Leaders so quickly?

That's a tough question, Sandra, because every new affiliate is different, with different skills, different goals and different insight and understanding of the purpose and benefit of the SFI ranking system.

I wouldn't discourage a new PSA from charging full speed ahead, but I would definitely encourage them to FIRST get a full understanding of the SFI compensation plan and ranking system. It's not like other plans, and we don't want them making decisions and taking action based on incorrect assumptions.

Just how we educate them properly and effectively is a challenge, though, because there is just so much to learn and only so much you can take in at a time.

I think communication is the key. We should follow a standard, step-by-step learning program for new PSAs, rather than everybody giving THEIR new PSAs different priorities to focus on based on their own interests or perspective.

- We need them to understand what VersaPoints are, what the purpose and value of VP is, and how it relates to their Team Leader achievement levels.

- We need them to understand the various ways to earn income with SFI and what role Sales VP and Action VP play in it all.

- We need them to fully understand that the advanced Team Leader levels are dependent not just on accumulating personal VP, but on actually building a team with members who are earning VP monthly.

- And we need them to understand that it is very likely that the majority of people they recruit will NOT be business-builders like they are, so it may take more time than they expect to build a strong enough team to effectively maintain the advanced Team Leader levels.

However . . . that's a LOT of info to take in all at once, and since it's all new to them, they may not fully understand it and get all the connections! Where do we start?

That is the challenge we all face with our new PSAs: Communication; Understanding; Effective Planning

1.It is an interesting question.Guiding properly a PSA is really a tricky affair.Main emphasis should be to make them understand SFI working.There are so many links and lot of reading material in SFI.Encourage PSAs to familiarize with the SFI environment gradually and peacefully.It has a bit multidimensional as well as multilevel business growth expansion.
2.Slow and steady wins the race,is very old saying.If you know the potential of your PSAs,you can remind and guide them accordingly with the speed they are moving.Apparently slowing down a speedy horse does not look nice until unless one knows the capability and stamina of the horse.AS SFI is not a quick rich scheme,so attaining a highest level of leadership or grabbing maximum Versapoints within a short span of time is not the ultimate aim.
3.You have to realize your PSAs to move with a maintainable pace.Assess the resources,what over position a PSA will achieve it is desirable to maintain it throughout,if someone wants to get something out of it.If your PSAs are slow,you can push them,if they are going too fast,you cannot advise them to slow down or stop acquiring the position as Team Leader.You have to just guide them,achieving such positions once is not enough,one has to maintain it throughout his SFI career.You have to tell aspirant PSAs about the Versapoints,a combination of sales and actions,may be easy to get initially but later on bit difficult to maintain it.

Yes I believe so going by personal experience.

In the first month, I believe making EA is a priority, also gaining Fast Track membership status because of the 10 - day limit. For some it comes as an extreme shock to see been set back to zero at the beginning of a new month.

My experience was a bit disorientating as I was almost at GTL in the first month - had already placed an SO, bought W3,S-builder, etc only to discover the zero setting!

It is always a bit easier parting with some money to place a standing order, SO, Wave3 in the second month [no guarantees that the Tcurrency Ledger will forever be funded to make this happen!]But by then they are used to the zero system, more aware of the difference in the benefits of staying EA or going on to TL status.

However, in the event that the affiliate is set for real business, making and maintaining first BTL should be encouraged so that he/she can be responsible for growing another level[s] of affiliates. Another level of duplication.
