A "leader" is defined as "a guiding or directing head" (dictionary.com) and also at dictionary.com, "leadership" is defined as "ability to lead" with the following example "As early as sixth grade, she displayed remarkable leadership potential". My point here is that I do not believe people are necessarily “born” a leader. Instead, I believe that it is a skill that we all can learn or acquire.
In any new position including leadership positions, it is perfectly normal to feel somewhat uncomfortable and perhaps unsure of yourself. This is normal. To become more comfortable or secure in the new role that is causing you to feel apprehensive, my advice is to LEARN as much as you can until you feel more assured and comfortable.
How or where? SFI provides a wealth of information and teaches us a great deal of skills we may not have had. In addition, the marketplace at SFI also has wonderful vendors that sell a number of e-Books that are extremely helpful and useful.
Outside of SFI, there are two online sites that provide courses that anyone can take online as follows:
Coursera - www.coursera.org – This site offers FREE online classes from over 80 top Universities and organizations.
Udemy – www.udemy.com – similar to Coursera, Udemy offers online classes and some are free, some have a very low fee and still others cost $50 or more.
In fact, after checking Udemy for leadership courses, the following is noteworthy:

The above is called “Leadership – The #1 Key to Guaranteed Business Success” and is offered for free.
To be a good leader does require that you care about your team. This may seem rather simplistic but believe it or not, I had a boss who treated our team as annoying. NOT a good leader at all!
In my opinion, just the fact that you are concerned with the ability to be a leader suggests that you care and therefore, you already sound way more effective than the so called leader in the example I just gave.
Also, a good leader doesn't need to have all the answers to be effective, if they know where to potentially find the answers is just as effective.
