How can we get across to our affiliates that investing minor (at least) amounts of money into SFI is smart?

I think the best way is to lead by example. The great thing about SFI is that you learn how to build your business and offer the support to your PSAs and CSAs. When you find successful actions, you share it with your PSAs and CSAs so that they can follow the same action and build their business as well. Investing time and money is part of building the business and as you share your methods of taking those actions, they will follow.

There is no way in my opinion. It all depends on them. You may tell them as many times you consider, and even from the beginning. It has however to pass a lot of time till they understand perfectly all this SFI and in most cases only after this they take a decision: to invest or to quit. So, you should keep inviting them, show them some attractive items in TripleClicks to purchase -if they want and need, and maybe they will search more, to find something they really need. And then, they will purchase.

Remind them that even Sears which started in a old bar with a handful of printed catalogs and no on hand inventory still needed money for catalogs. Buying things like training through IAHBE, or PSA's through the S-Builder Coop, x-cards, ECA brochuers etc.. all help grow their business and show the professional they are becoming. This is a business, not a game or hobby so invest in yourself.

We need to explain to them that it is the way they can understand their business better.
To be able to run a business one must be able to explain what products they sell and to do that let them first be their own customer.

Explain to them that every, if not all business require capital to start. even if it mean a few cents, will make a big difference for example by just buying 1TCredit for a merely $1.89 you can score 5MRP plus 102 VP.

I think in any business, nothing can be done, if you are attempting to do by force. In this regard, you simply can not force someone to come into the deal, if not a serious intent to succeed, because no investment (not only investment, of course) you can not take the proper starting position. What SFI differs from other similar business is just the fact that the starting position however you can take with the minimal, insignificant investments. Every business, even if it's free to join needs investments to maintain in it.
Wave 3 isn't so expensive and most of people can afford it. To invest money in SFI is smart, because you know Robert Kiyosaki said that people in Network marketing it's better to invest in their business and after that in Real Estate. I think the same.
Let's get real! There is no business without even a small amount of financial investment.

This is interesting question, we need to personally focus to SFI and always touch with our up line leader and down line affiliates to help success.

We need focus always advertising to generate PSA’S and CSA’S to make strong down line to generate money.

You need to Setting your goal on monthly basis to improve SFI business factor starting out and caring highest mountain. Our goal is motivate to us. Most successful marketer has used these practices to reach the destination.

They come to SFI to make money not to invest.

Except for a minority that have cash and are smart enough to calculate the advantages of this investment, the rest are remiss to spend a dime in something they don´t know.

Another reason is the promise FREE and after they turn the first corner they find signs everywhere: "buy", "buy", "buy".

First of all we must be very objective by reminding them that every meaningful investment in life requires time and money but that in the case of SFI,it is only little money required because the business has already been structured to run on a solid platform with a lot of resources for success and has been tested to yeild returns over the years.

Interesting question because people do not like that they are offered "investing" in something unfamiliar to them. Therefore, I propose a friendly approach in two steps:
First show and help to create a new member immediately and free 1500 VP.
Second show you how to use the SFI Basics and Launchpad.
When a new member discloses his interest, will go to TC earnings.
