I would recommend daily contact through the stream at best and at the least you want to touch basis with them every 3 days or 3 times per week. Communication is extremely important to leadership as most affiliates will need your guidance and direction.
Nevertheless, some affiliates are more internet and marketing savvy and will not need as much feedback. So a good rule of thumb to live by is that if you don't hear from your network either 1 or 2 things are the case. Either they are good and making progress at a rate that is good for them or they don't care one way or another. The first group you can monitor and the second group team mail won't help because they don't log in.
In the ladder case, I have sent a personal email to them offering my recommendations and support. If they reply then great but if not then I would waste a lot of effort trying to revive their interests. SFI is not for everyone and as such most workers will bud within the first 30 days.
Some affiliates don't mind if you offer them personalize support over the phone. Those affiliates tend to work more loyally when that have a personal connection to you. Nonetheless, others will not be open to your phone call seeing that they are more reserved about speaking with people they haven't met in person. So the bottom line is if someone asks you to call them call them. If they ask questions, answer them in a timely fashion. I check my emails everyday 2 or 3 times a day so that I can get back with anyone usually within 24 hours. Most of the time its less than that.
