The difference between mediocrity and been highly successful is attitude and willingness to work. If you don't have the right attitude you're never going to get anywhere. But even someone with a fantastic attitude and wonderful goals is not going to get anywhere unless they're willing to work and work hard.

The first thing you need to do is decide where you want to end up; is this just a part-time venture that you're doing for fun, or is this a full-time venture that you want to put a lot of time and effort into and have it become your full-time business. Until you have decided this there's no point in doing anything. If this is just for fun you need to make some small goals and do the basics: buy things on Tripleclicks, play with the PriceBender auction, i.e. do all the basics and become a Executive Affiliate, maybe you'll even end up as a bronze team leader; but that's about it.

But if you want this to eventually replace your full-time job you need to make that decision and start doing the things you need to do to achieve it. First thing: write a business plan! Get it down on paper. Have your banker look at it and help you with it. Write goals: short-term, mid-length and long-term. Get them on paper where you can write notes next to them as to how you're doing on accomplishing.

Write a marketing plan and work on it with your banker. You need a marketing plan just as much as you need a business plan. Again you need to make room to make comments about your marketing plan as you're going along. By being able to make these plans and make comments about them on paper it will definitely help your attitude as you see how your accomplishing things day by day.

Attitude is very important in your business, but planning and hard work are the main things that will make your business work. Make sure that you have a banker that you're working with to help you get everything in order. Remember, the more you accomplish the more your attitude will improve and you'll have better success in your business. Good luck

i read THESE quotations many blue moons ago and they
still guide my actions today:

Initiative and Motivation are two big differences between those that achieve only mediocrity, and those who become what we generally regard as successful.

If you are trying to encourage your downline, I suggest going over what motivates them, and discussing what initiatives they may be willing to take.

Mediocrity is what those who fear success settle for. There are many other authors whom have posted wonderful answers here, but if I may be so bold as to put in my words, based on my more than 20 years of success in offline microbusinesses of many sorts, I would say that this sums up my attitude for achieving success: Successful people are those who continue to work tirelessly, to the best of their ability, toward achieving specific goals, which they change to exceed the previous as they reach each one. They NEVER stop using what proves to work, and changing what proves not to work effectively, tweaking things each day until they find that "magic method" which may work better for them. People measure success differently, but ALL successful people are committed to their purpose and willing to do whatever it takes to get to the destination they have chosen.

Look at mediocrity as being an attitude of acceptable stagnation, whereas success is one of moving forward and growing.

Often we like to blame others for our lack of success when all we need do is look in the mirror. There are a number of steps to success but I believe that the first one should always to set goals for each and every month and then work to achieve those goals. If you can do this then your success will come. Any endeavor requires personal effort and concentration.

The bottom line is that acceptable stagnation requires no effort yet the people that practice continue to wonder why they don't succeed.

Fellow the rules to success is the best way to go and listen to it also is great and you will get to here Gery Carson talk but really that is all you need to do trust me I am a Man of God, that is the key to success I have been in MLM for almost 40 years working it with my parents since I was 10 years old and have seen people make it to Double Diamond and I am sure there crown my now main key is to stay focus on what you want and don't pay no mind to the no's your looking for your Yeses and they will come you only need 45 to 60 EA's to be a PTL and who knows SFI could even add Diamond to there list to being at top level when more and more reach PTL. (Just food for thought Gery )

If you have the patience to stay on the tasks and keep your mind focused on what you have to do, plus the persistance to keep going no matter what hurdles you have to overcome, you will be successful.

If you've never seen the movie called "Door to Door", about Bill Porter, the top salesman for Watkins products, I highly recommend it. He had all the qualities that made him one of the most successful business men in history, and went door to door and never gave up, even though he had cerebral palsy! His dedication was so inspiring for me. If he can do what he did, I can definitely do it. And so can you.
