I am writing with a background of having been CFO of several companies, including two listed on The London Stock Exchange.
The board of any large national company are busy people, and your chances of getting an audience are slim at best. The chances of them having the time to follow up after any meeting are likewise pretty remote.

Can I suggest a different approach...Find the younger executive in marketing or sales, one who is ambitious and enthusiastic.

Approach him or her with the benefits of becoming an ECA, . Now you have a "product champion" within the company,
He or she can work to get the approval necessary to start marketing products. You need to be aware that there is an investment required, even if it is just photography and time.

Of even more importance, you now have a product champion with a point to prove, who will work with you to make sure that the project is a success.

This is one of the hardest thing to accomplish and we can’t take it lightly that is going

Don’t Sweat It when it comes to strategies for Meeting and Connecting with CEO’s and Directors/Owners of potential ECA companies. Firstly, you need to:

Act like you belong! A CEO has limited time, don’t waste it, be bold, know your stuff, and be confident in what you are trying to market to them. They are CEO’s – remember they, in their own brilliance have achieved a level of rank that demands successful behavior, attitude and professionalism.

Provide value first! You need to open up your meeting/presentation with all the right facts with figures to back them up, a CEO will want to know what is in it for his company, and within a very short time of your meeting – don’t miss this window, as you will lose your limited opportunity window.

Do your research in advance! Make sure you arrive on time, and are well versed, prepared and above all else you have to talk the talk and know you your objectives for any question or eventuality that may arise. A CEO will not entertain a call back if you are unsure of your own objectives and what you are marketing.

The trick here is the gatekeeper. You need to find that person in that company you are targeting. Most will have at least one and familiarity is paramount. All owners of a business house are like CEO and VIPs as far as their business or companies are concerned. You need to give equal importance to all owners irrespective of size of a business.

If I am approaching any owner for ECA program, I will call him on telephone and fix up a timing for the meeting so that we both are mentally prepared for listening to each other.

Firstly, you should get an appointment. Contact his secretary / PA and ask for an appointment for business purposes.

Secondly, you must prepare for the appointment. You don't want to get there and stumble over your words. Role play with a friend and make sure you can answer any "stupid" question without hesitation.

Thirdly, prepare some paperwork for him to read. He would probably say, "I have to think about it." Then you give him the papers to read. Attach your details either as a complimentary slip or business card to these papers. And make sure your stuff is on TripleClicks letterheads!

Fourthly, you must be dressed appropriately. Make sure your clothes for the interview is portraying professionalism.

This is a good question.
The way i approach CEO or VIPs of companies are the following:
1. Being a CEO of my company and business myself i know the CEO mode of business and ethics and i follow it.
2. I dress corporately with my skirt suit with SFI or Tripleclicks T Shirts as my inner layer. Dressing with the SFI T shirt is to give the CEO a good concept of where i am coming from and the business and the company i am representing.
This will also rouse the curiosity and the interest of the CEO himself or herself. Doing this will let the CEO know that my company is a legitimate one and put his or her mind at rest. The way i am dressed will determine how i am addressed. So my dressing is very important.
3. My Packaging: how i package myself and my resources matter a lot: My outlook.
Am i rough or neat, disorganized or organized will judge the response of my recipient and the company i represent. So i go there organized, neat, composed and my hair neatly packed. All my marketing tools and materials are neatly put in two folders arranged neatly. One for SFI, Tripliclicks ECA and the other packages of Tripleclicks.
4. With 1-3 in place, i arranged myself while seated with my knees crossed, looking eye to eye with my recipient to explain my purpose of coming with smiles on my face.
After the talk, i give my recipient the opportunity to make his/her decision and i give a firm handshake with smile on my face as i appreciate the time given.

Well... a CEO or other VIPs in a large, national companies are probably too busy for some long talks or presentations... what would I do is:
1. be prepared with max 10 minutes presentation on main benefits (free registration, no cost to enter product/services data, free internet marketing from affiliates all over the world, etc.) all ready on my laptop, in written material and in speech;
2. find out who are the people making decisions in the company (secretaries, sellers, etc.) and get in very good relations with them (having in mind that either a CEO or other VIPs are acctualy just approving the decisions made by the people that seems not important to us (their drivers, secretaries, etc.)
