This is a great question and I hope that my answer will help to shed some insight on the topic.

Following are the top ten things I recommend for all new SFI affiliates. They are, at least in my opinion, in the order of importance that I feel is best.

1) Complete their affiliate profile
I rate this as the most important first step as this gives their sponsor an excellent overview of their new affiliate. It also allows their sponsor to custom tailor their communications based on the information their affiliate provides in their profile. For example, if your affiliate states in their profile that they have strong prior online advertising experience, then you are not likely needing to teach them how and where to advertise.

2) Upload a photo to their profile
The internet takes away the essence of personalism. Without a photo, you are nothing more than words on a screen and a faceless name. By having a photo posted on your profile, both your sponsor and those who your affiliate introduces to SFI will feel more comfortable when communicating.

3) Visit their sponsor's leadership page
This is why it is so important for us as SFI leaders to maintain our leadership pages. Aside from our direct communications with our affiliates, our leadership page can provide a great level of insight for our new affiliates. This also gives our new affiliates a chance to see what contests we might be running for them and about any we advertsing co-ops we are running.

4) Whitelist both the SFI email and their sponsor's email addresses
This is very important so that they won't miss any important announcements from SFI. By whitelisting their sponsor's email address, they won't miss any direct email communications from their sponsor. However, a word of caution regarding having them whitelist your email... DO NOT break SFI's rules and use this as an opportunity to cross-solicit.

5) Complete fast track
By doing this, new affiliates are able to demonstrate to their sponsor and the world that they are serious about their SFI business. While not a guarantee, fast trackers are more likely to stay active so long as you do your part in encouraging them and providing coaching, training and guidance to help them succeed.

6) Contact their sponsor
You might wonder why I put this in here. How often do we get a sign-up notification only to do nothing? How often have we thought "I completed my welcome mailer, that is sufficient."? Or sometimes we might have a built-in mental delay mechanism wherein we let them get started and feel their way around, choosing to send our personal welcome message 48 to 72 hours after they enroll. When our new affiliates contact us first, it is another avenue whereby they are showing us that they are serious about their SFI business. It also demonstrates that they are self-motivated and are able to take initiative.

7) Get familiar with the daily task tabs
As this is where we all typically start each day with our SFI businesses, it is good to have your new affiliates get familiar with these tabs and the information each one contains.

8) Introduce themselves in the forum
The forum is an amazing resource for us. Sometimes we won't always have the answers that our affiliates are seeking. By getting comfortable with the forum, your affiliates will know that they have multiple avenues to explore when in need of answers. This is because we all his lives apart from SFI and cannot be on the site 24/7 to be able to answer their questions the moment they ask them. Given the fact also that SFI is a global opportunity, and apart from A2A, the forum is a great place for them to connect with fellow affiliates from their own country.

9) Review the Start and SFI Basics buttons
As their titles imply, these sections provide much of the essential information for the new affiliate.

10) Start the SFI LaunchPad training
Just like the Start and SFI Basics sections, this training takes your new affiliate through 30 days of essential training. In the LaunchPad, your new affiliate will learn about such things as SFI, TripleClicks and the SFI Rules for Success.

The initial actions taken by affiliates who join SFI are important to their understanding and appreciation of the potentials of this business, which will invariably facilitate success and reduce inaction and opt outs. Some of these actions are identified below:

1. They need to complete all actions on their Getting Started and Intermediate actions on their VP Ledgers especially completing their affiliate profiles, whitelisting, compensation plan, and SFI benefits chart among others. These will open up without hindrance lines of communication between them and their upline on one hand, and with SFI/TC on the other hand. Since joining SFI is to earn income, their understanding of the compensation plan and benefits chart will boost their morale and appreciation of the possibility to earn and receive other benefits.

2. Without wasting too much time in order to meet the 10 days deadline, strive to become a fast track member in order to be qualified to receive the accompanying benefits.

3. They need to read, read and continue to read all training materials; Launchpads, including other training materials like sales and sponsoring, rules of success, internet income etc. These have the effect of helping them grasp the rudiments of SFI as an online income opportunity programme and the application of them.

4. They should associate themselves with real time helpful resources by registering at the forum in other to tap into the powerful exchange of ideas for their benefits.

5. Register for a2a and make friends with experienced affiliates and others from their country or same geographical region. This friendship is important to exchange ideas and resolve problems peculiar to their locations.

6. They should quickly be associated with the Ask SC and read answers to important questions so that they can add to their knowledge and understanding provided by experts and knowledgeable affiliates.

7. They should open lines of communication with their upline members in order to diversify their sources of assistance from their sponsor. This is particularly helpful especially where the sponsor is not helpful and the fact that some in their upline may have more experience.

8. Another action they need to get used to is to login daily or regularly and complete their To-Do-list and ensure to visit the news centre in order to update themselves on current goings on in SFI and TripleClicks.

9. It is very necessary for them to take actions to immediately resolve any confusion, misunderstanding and pressure by communicating their sponsors or upline members. At the same time, they should not hesitate to always go to the forum with any problem also.

10. They should also take action to evaluate their budgetary conditions in order to make feasible decisions regarding making relevant purchases at TripleClicks and other investments pertinent to the short and medium term successes of their businesses.

11. They may not need to do sales and team building immediately but instead take actions to understand that these actions are necessary to be successful in SFI. However, there is nothing wrong if they are capable and grasp the understanding from the onset, to take on these actions immediately.

In conclusion, please note that affiliates who join SFI come with different orientations, expectations, experiences, strategies, goals and objectives, so each of them will certainly be different regarding how they deploy their actions in order to achieve their individual objectives. This may require you not to push them hard if you sense they are not following your guidance, but just do your best as a sponsor selflessly and professionally and also note that they do not need to rush through these actions but a step by step approach is safer to avoid pressure and being overwhelmed.

SFI has structured the page to make it easy to find where to begin, but yet this is probably the most asked question in the forums.

There are 3 buttons at the top of the page, the first is START which offers a video overview of SFI and the training program and tells you how important it is to pay close attention to what you learn through the other two buttons.

Button two is SFI Basics and it's really the simple mindset you need to be a success. It will guide you on what is most important to learn from each lesson and apply to a set of daily actions. In the end our system is as simple as 1. become and Executive Affiliate, 2. Recruit others to SFI and 3. Teach them how to do steps 1 and 2.

Button 3 begins the hard work by breaking down the items of the VP Ledger into a daily lesson plan that can last you up to 30 days. In this plan called Launchpad you quickly learn about the company, the products, your rankings, the benefits of Versa Points, the potential of your business, and are introduced to things like the FAST Track Membership.

I see people who swear by sending people a long laundry list of links, or dumping the new recruit on the VP-Ledger page and telling them get all the points possible.

When I was a brand new affiliate marketer a decade ago that page would have confused and intimidated me if it was the first thing my sponsor showed me. Likewise I would be looking for step by step training like we have with the 3 buttons at the top of the page instead of a 1 time nightmare e-mail with 3 dozen links in it. SFI shouldn't confuse or overwhelm people and the last thing you should say on their first day in a free to join program is spend money now.

The launchpad goes in depth on the benefits of Fast Track membership and becoming an EA2, no sales pitch needed and there are reminders the affiliate will see when they log in for both programs if they don't have a standing order or are still eligible for Fast Track Membership. SFI also knows their products and doesn't confuse the NMP or New Member Pack benefits with the Fast Track Membership benefits which means your PSA will get a proper start.

Be patient and ready to answer questions and when they finish the launch-pad lessons and start getting their feet wet promoting SFI and TripleClicks, then you can show the George Little's Internet Income Course or talk with them about auction strategy, or offer your own tips on recruiting, a great way to make sure they can learn at their pace is start a blog and introduce them to your archived newsletters and FAQs.

Getting started properly is obviously the most important thing for a new person to do upon joining SFI.

When you send a Welcome Letter, it is important to give a simple instructions on what to do to get started by performing these three core actions:

START
SFI BASICS
LAUNCHPAD

Clicking the grey START button and watching Gery Carson’s short video will teach the new person how to navigate the homepage and get started.

The Blue SFI BASICS and reading the 4 things one needs to do to succeed in SFI, by promoting SFI and TC products, and learning the importance of following the Ultra Simple 3-Steps for success.

The Green Launchpad, with its 30 lessons, are designed to give the training one needs to comprehend what SFI is and how it works.

It will also be to the new affiliate’s benefit to learn and understand early on what VersaPoints are, and why earning them by performing the actions in the To-Do List every single day can impact on their progress in building their SFI business, how earning VersaPoints can advance one's Power Rankings.

It will also help the new Affiliate to know how income and commissions are are earned and calculated by advising him to check the Benefits Chart and Compensation Plan for more details.

The most important thing for any new affiliate to do is to review the 3 colored links in the upper right of the affiliate center. The first one is grey - START. There is a video with Gery Carson himself doing the teaching. I believe it is so crucial not to fly through this page. It clears up a lot of the confusion about doing this type of business. The ultra simplified 3 steps to DTL are here! Did you understand that? If you follow the information discussed here you can become a DTL. It all starts with you maintaining EA which becomes EA2. Then you need to sponsor other team members(5) who follow in your footsteps to maintain EA2. Finally they should do what you do down to 12 generations.

The second link is highlighted in blue - SFI BASICS. This link just reinforces what Mr. Carson taught in a bit more detail. It covers how you are going to sponsor SFI affiliates, refer TripleClicks members, and duplicate your efforts through 12 generations. Again, I believe too many affiliates fly through this information and get lost in the shuffle of information. They wind up searching in the forum for answers when everything is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Take your time. Study the information first and then if you have questions don't forget to reach out to your sponsor. The forum is filled with knowledgeable affiliates from around the world so if your sponsor happens to be off duty use the forum to get you going in the right direction and connect with your sponsor when they are available.

Finally, the last link is green - LAUNCHPAD. Green means go! So get busy learning from each day's lesson about SFI. Once again, I believe too many affiliates just click through to earn versa points instead of learning the material presented. There are 30 days worth of training and you may complete it at your own pace. When you feel that you have all of this information down, then you need to execute what you learn. You can't expect quality results without proper action.

Write a plan that will show you clearly how to achieve your goals. Don't become a clickaholic. You need to absorb the material and give your mind time to formulate a plan that will fit into your budget. You will need a budget for advertising. If you have no money then your plan should include a way for you to have some money to invest into your business. Don't forget to ask your sponsor to help you come up with a plan if you need help. When your sponsor offers recommendations follow them and double check with your upline to see if you are on the right track. If you do all that I've mentioned here, you will be ahead of the curb by a long shot.

SFI has set in order the things that a new affiliate should be doing during the first few days that have enrolled and for the next 30 days as well.

So it is important to guide your new affiliates to the three buttons just under their photo in their Affiliate Center.

2. Basics – will show 4 easy steps for building and the link for the 3 basic actions for success.
3. Launchpad – A series of articles (30 of them) each designed to cover specific areas of training that is needed to understand how SFI and TripleClicks work.

Why do I suggest this over possibly other important matters? Good question, I’m glad you asked.

Take a few minutes to go to the forum and read the questions that new affiliates are posting. What you will find is that most of their questions are answered within the three buttons described above.

We need to point out the importance of these three things within our welcome letters to our new affiliates. We should also explain to them where to find the “translate” button so they can read the instructions in their own language.

One other thing you can be informing your new affiliates that is very important to do is to contact you if they do not understand something. Let them know you are willing to help them when they need assistance and give them a couple different ways to contact you.

One last important bit of information to share with your new affiliates can be found under the video Ready Set Go:

“The most important thing to do is log in at the Affiliate Center every day and review the tabs on your homepage. Review the tabs daily, apply what you learn and you will quickly master SFI. At the same time, you'll be accumulating valuable rank- and income-boosting VersaPoints!”

The most important thing new affiliates should do, after confirming their registration and verifying their email address to make sure they receive important emails from SFI, is visit the Getting Started page (grey button on the top RH corner) and watch the introductory video. This gives them an excellent overview not only of SFI itself but also explains the affiliate centre home page and the importance of doing their daily tasks, daily. It also introduces them to the basic concepts behind earning with SFI and Tripleclicks and sets out in very simple and plain terminology exactly how to take those all important first steps as well as showing them where the various links to more information and help can be found.

The second thing they should do is visit the SFI Basics page (blue button) to read, and UNDERSTAND, the information on that page. This is SFI broken down into the most basic of building blocks and if, after reading it, a new affiliate understands this information I believe they have a better than average chance of being able to make an informed decision about whether or not SFI is for them. New affiliates who choose to ignore or bypass the Getting Started and the SFI Basics pages will, in all likelihood, end up confused and intimidated by the sheer volume of information that they find here, flounder and lose their way unless they are already experienced marketers with a pretty clear idea of what SFI is and how it works before they join.

Once they start receiving the Daily Launchpads, it's important that new affiliates read and UNDERSTAND those lessons as well because again, these are vitally important stepping stones to success in SFI.

And then the most important thing new affiliates can do is learn by doing their daily tasks, daily, and by READING, READING and then reading some more because it's only by reading and learning that they'll get a true understanding of exactly what SFI and TripleClicks are about and the very real potential this company has to change their life for the better.

As sponsors we can guide new affiliates and we can point them in the right direction and we can tell them what they need / want to know but ultimately they're the only ones who can decide whether or not to read and learn what SFI is and how it works. Invariably though it is the new affiliates who do decide to learn everything they can about this industry and who truly 'get' what SFI is and 'get' how it works that decide to stay and give it their best shot.

When a person joins SFI, the most important for him/her to do is to build a strong foundation. Our foundation here at SFI is on the SFI Basics.
Mr. Gery states well on the START. His first statement is: "For 15+ years, we've been building the #1 affiliate program on the Internet." (We know is on the 17th year now). From his experience, he created SFI BASICS.

Most affiliates join SFI for one reason "To Earn income" therefore we should be able to lead them immediately on some task that will give him income.

However he also needs to learn the basics and the requirements to earn. So the best activity for him or her to to do is related to "Earning while Learning" activities, or you can interchange it by saying "Learning while Earning" activities.

The best place for him to go is the TO-DO list tab. Tell him to earn the points on each activity but at the same time read the lessons behind it. Tell him/her that every point they earn has cash equivalent. The more points they earn the bigger their income.

To add more excitement tell him/her that he/she is in a contest competing among his/her batchmates (those who sign up on same day as he/she is). The basis is the number of points they earned. They have to stay above the average (green line) points their batchmates earned to stay in the contest.

The second thing they should do is to know where to find help if they need one. It is expected that they will find some bottlenecks in their journey with SFI.

They should learn how to find help. The chat, messaging, upline links, the forum and ask SC are the main sources of information if they need help. so teach them how to use these features in SFI.

When communication is established and he/she started to engage with you in communication then the rest will be easy because you can constantly guide him/her to the next step.

Lots of people have told you that the most important things for a new affiliate to do is to read the Start, SFI Basics and Launchpad lessons.

This is true, these are very important things to do but I think that the most important thing for a new affiliate to do is to get in touch with their sponsor and let them know they are ready to start learning.

Many sponsors have lots of new affiliates joining their teams each day and it may be physically impossible to give each new signup the time they deserve. If a new affiliate lets their sponsor know they're ready to work it makes it more likely that the sponsor will put time and effort into helping this affiliate. Put your hand up and get in front of the crowd.

Oft times new affiliates are put off by the amount of information they find on this site but communicating with a sponsor, "a real person" can make this transition a lot easier.
