Text Ad Exchanges and Safelists are advertising avenues. You can join these for free and you can also pay to upgrade.

Because they are free, these are popular with those people just starting out with online advertising or have no or little advertising funds. They are also a good way of testing out how effective an ad is as measured by the responses you receive.

I am however not a great fan of these because I believe that your target audience are restricted. In order to use these, you have to join as a member and the people who visit these sites and view the texts or receive emails are members only. They are crowded with those with products, services or businesses to promote and they can only promote them to each other.

Postings to Safelists and text ad exchanges can also be time consuming and mundane.

Text Ad Exchange operates on a similar manner as Traffic Exchange except that instead of full blown web pages views only the member’s text ads are shown at the Tex Ad Exchanges. Members get to choose which site they want to look at by clicking on the text that catches their attention. In theory this should make for more conversions as they are not simply clicking through sites that they are not interested in as in the case of Traffic Exchange.

Safelists on the other hand are simply directories of email addresses of members who signed up to send and receive advertisements from each other. These are also known as opt in lists.

One of the positives about these systems however is that the members all have something to sell, but they have not advanced far enough in their internet marketing to pay someone else to do the marketing. They are actually reading and processing the postings themselves. That means that the average user of these systems is an excellent prospect for all those TripleClicks products such as e-books, self-improvement products etc... that can help people grow their knowledge and skills about business and internet marketing.

There are advantages and disadvantages of both Safelist and Text Ad Exchages:

A Safelist consists of the name and email addresses of Internet users who have specifically agreed to receive emails from other members on this list. It is basically a community of Internet marketers who have joined to profit from one another by mutually exchanging marketing messages.

Advantage:

joining any Safelist is that anyone could immediately come to a list of thousands of people who can mail to without being accused of spamming.

Disadvantage:

Is that these are not a targeted public because the vast majority would have opted-in to the list in an interest to promote their own products rather than read and respond to the promotions of their fellow list members.

As a Safelist member a person has to face the fact of receiving hundreds of mails every day and that person has to spend a lot of time to clear his inbox. Most Safelist services have in their Terms of Service that a bounced email due to a overfilled inbox leads to an immediate cancellation of membership.

There are still people who use the Safelist approach, and use it successfully.

On the other hand Text ads are usually exchanged in a reciprocal agreement between two sites. Banners are often dynamically rotated, text is often hard-coded onto a page.

There are no Text Ads Exchanges as big as the major banner exchanges. However, there are some networks willing to give it a try. Text Ads Exchanges hope to combine the vast reach of their banner counterparts with the high response rates of text ads, plus the added benefit of multiple exposures per page. While this may sound good in theory, the same caveats about other exchanges still apply. Make sure you are getting a good value, and make doubly sure the ad exchange does not diminish from your site.

In my opinion Safelist would be safe and best

Well I am very active with Safe-lists and text ads.

Most newer safe-lists now offer new members a free post every 3-4 days.So join 10 safe-lists and place them in a folder.Call it DayOne.Join groups of 10 safe-lists,each time put it in favorites calling it by a different day.


Which ones are best? The newer ones give you a place to store your ads.It is called either Stored ads or Templates.

These newer safe-lists also allow surfing right on their site.Most offer you free banners and text ads.Why pay for them when you get free credits for surfing their ads? Banners are included too,just like in Traffic Exchanges.

You can tell which ones are newer.Most put their member count right on their ads.Less than 20,000 members ones are the best to check.

Both of these have their uses!

To be able to work with a text ad exchange you generally need to already have a list of 1,000's. You offer to send your ad to someone with a list of similar size to yours, or if they have a larger list some will send to the same number as you have on your list.
In return you agree to send an ad to your list promoting the persons ad that you have agreed to swap with.

So if you do not already have a reasonably sized list you are unlikely to find anyone to swap with.

There are other methods of sending your text ads out where you do not need a list. These are generally receiving thousands of ads on a daily basis so your ad only stays on the first page for a very short time. There are upgrades to these that you can buy to ensure your ad stays on the first page for longer, but if you are looking for free advertising I do not consider these very good for advertising with.
With safelists you are sending your ad to people who have agreed to receive these ads. Now a lot of those who have joined the safelist only do so to be able to get their own ads out, so you need to be able to write well enough to get them to open and read your ad.

Some of the safelists are credit based, so you have to read others ads to be able to send your own ads out. This of course all takes time out of your day so you need to know where to draw the line.

Which are the best? It really depends on which you find more success with. Personally I use safelists more than text ads, but I do use both.

I think both of them are ok the only think Safelist Marketing spam is free as people have to double opt-in to the Safelist and thereby agreeing to received your ads and besides this is the origin of the name, a Safelist is a closed community where it is a site for members to exchange ads, Second advantage is quite obvious but many people fail to see this, what does the all Safelist members have in common? They have something to sell but they have not advanced far enough in their internet marketing career to discuss a very mundane task as posting to Safelist.
Safelist is a gathering of like minded people who have agreed to exchange adverts. You agree to receive ads fro all the other members in exchange for the opportunity to send your own. By reading someone adverts, this concept has many advantages.
I could probably make do without Safelist but I'm sure i won't. Safelist are a starting point for many newbie marketers and picking those up a subscribers and customers can be very profitable
e.g. they do not own every product out of there and they do not know everything meaning that we have plenty of stuff to sell them..

Safelists, Text Ad Exchanges, and other sorts of traffic exchanges all have the same problem: They're advertisers advertising at each other, clicking on links or buttons or banners to earn credits without any real desire to invest in anything else. Sure, you might get few people who show just enough curiosity to investigate, but then you get the general attrition atop that. Some might describe this as cynicism... and it is.

I find that the best way to advertise is to do so where there's an actual chance to meet new people, like through a blog or other more entertaining site; I have even been known to advertise in print media in more exciting publications. The results are far more interesting.

Text Ad Exchanges or Safelists...which is best and why?

I use both traffic exchanges(TE) and safelists. They both have free and paid accounts, but I prefer the safelists.

With traffic exchanges you do not receive emails, you are expected to login to the TE with an account and view ads to get free credits. The email address you use is not as important. You are allowed a certain number of URL's to promote based on membership level.

With safelists you do not need to login, but you need a reliable email address or you can be denied membership. Some email services are black listed. If your email bounces your account is automatically suspended.

I prefer the safelists because they are more effective. The click through rate is higher, which increases your chances of getting signups, leads or sales.

If you are looking to make a decision on which to use, try them both. You may prefer to login, I have found login in to be time consuming. On the other hand your inbox can become cluttered with emails.

In any case you get free advertising.

Like any traffic exchange the viewer of your ads is there to earn a credit to advertise the program they are already in. They aren't there to join other programs so the conversion is very low.

The user is also subjected in most cases to a bar with someone's banner ad and/or a text link or more and a counter reminding them they are running out of time to take in all this information before they can click again to earn another credit.

You can combat the timer some with a splash page and increase your conversion by having an autoresponder with a free report to give in exchange for the prospect agreeing to receive more follow up mails from you in the future, but your odds are still horrible for the amount of time spent.

The one exception to the rule is you can almost always have increased success by offering the viewer more traffic for free. This is why so many people who are active exchange and safelist users offer a free report on traffic strategy which ultimately refers the reader to a handful of top exchanges that pay cash commissions, allow you to earn from credit sales as well as upgrades, and let you earn traffic from your downline.

Just like PTC promotions the goal is to get as many people into and upgraded in your best paying exchanges so you can cut back on your own surfing and let them do the work for you. In the end the goal is to make money from these advertising programs you are promoting to use to buy paid ads to promote your primary business.

Tony Tezak is one of the best known traffic exchange empire builders. He has turned traffic funneling which is what I was just explaining to you, into an art. He makes thousands of dollars a month funneling people into exchanges he has co-oped with or owns and then spending the income earned to promote any program, product, or new site launch he chooses. He never misses and has been doing this over a decade now with no hiccups.

I have never been on a traffic exchange where I haven't seen his Tezack Traffic Power site, or Traffic Exchange Report and the same tactics also work for Text Ad Exchanges and Safelist.

I'm not quite sure as I am still studying and experimenting on it too.

But they are still another best option to promote our SFI business and to get some interested sign ups.

We do need to expose ourselves in both programs as we are also involves in ads promotion.

Text Ads Exchange exchanges two ads between two party and your ads will travel following the other party's promotion.

Safelist is that your ads travels to another party's members list.

One thing good about both is that our promotion goes down to people who are in the same interest and in the same field. Another words is, your ads has more chance to be view and read by like minded society.

Get involve with viewing ads will at least gives you idea on which ads captures your interest while viewing other's ads. So anytime, you can just adjust your promotional ads to suits your viewer's tastes.

The best exchanges in the world are useless without a good ad. The marketing center offers good solutions for ads. However every affiliate has access to those ads. You need to be able to differentiate your ad quality from others in order to gain a competitive advantage. Tracking for improvement is the only way that you will be able to answer this question for yourself.
