As you make progress in grasping the essentials of your newfound business you reach a stage where you have to ask yourself these questions:


1. Are my goals clear and realistic?
2. Am I comfortable with what I have to do?

When you are happy with answers to the above, you are in a position to build your team and in doing so you should employ not one but several strategies. You can get your new PSAs through:

1. Your own advertising that is promoting your gateways or your websites if you have them.
2. Joining a Co-op
3. Subscribing to S-Builder Co-op
4. Or buying PSAs, through schemes such as “PSAs to Go.”

Each of these methods has pros and cons. For example advertising on your own may require more effort but if successful you can get many enrolments at a time. On the other hand with "PSAs to Go", you decide how many PSAs you want and it takes only a few days for you to get them but there is no guarantee that they will be active. ECA stores at Tripleclicks mainly sell these PSAs.

A strong team is certainly a spine of your business but such a team does not necessarily mean hundreds of PSAs . Some new affiliates are self-motivated and may not require much guiding but many others will. If you are in a position where you can offer duplication and it has a successful outcome, then even a team of 5 or 10 active PSAs is a strong team. But to get those 5 or 10 affiliates will require persistence on your part and a never give up mind set.

I would think that successful advertising is more likely to yield these active affiliates than buying PSAs. However, buying PSAs is an option when you do not have time to or cannot advertise. I wonder if anyone else has made a comparison between PSAs bought from S-Builder Co-op and those coming from “PSAs to Go”?

In summary, when you have acquainted yourself with the training information at SFI, and you are happy with guiding others to do the same then you are in a position to get PSAs and if you need to buy them, spend your money wisely, weighing up the pros and cons of the methods you choose.

SFI and Tripleclicks work hand in hand in promoting your business. I would like to think of SFI as umbrella under which Triplecliks sits. Both need each other!

Through SFI, you get most of your PSAs and CSAs that are vital for building your team. Growing your business in this way depends on the strength of your team. Personally Referred Members or PRMs are obtained through Tripleclicks and whenever they make a purchase at Tripleclicks, you get a share. In addition, you can also open an ECA store or refer others to become ECAs. Again whenever the ECAs make a sale, you also get a share.

Much has been said about inactive PSAs or CSAs but the same can be said about dormant PRMs who do not make any purchases. The more affiliates that come to your team the higher the chances of finding active PSAs and likewise the more PRMs you refer, the higher the chances of finding those who can buy something.

In summary it is better to make the best of both streams to maximise your chances of attracting affiliates.

When in dilemma, to quit or not to quit, the easiest response would seem to be to quit. Why? Because it is easy!! When one decides to quit they are not prepared to wait or endure the efforts that are required for their transition from A to B. A perfect historical example of this is the forty years in the wilderness, when they wanted to return instead of moving forward.
As a sponsor at SFI, you are a leader and your responsibility is mainly to support all your downline. You can persuade them to march forward with you but you cannot force them. They may have their own reasons for throwing in the towel. In my case, I have had so many affiliates who have just visited the page on the first day and quit. But I have also seen a hard working co sponsored affiliate quit after doing so well in the first three months. These two examples illustrate different expectations and when those expectations are not attained they will quit. I think most of those who quit on the first day are just surfing the Internet for some quick answers to their situation. And perhaps those quitting after three months have greater expectations! Who knows?
In conclusion, the choice is in their hands and all you can do is support them as much as you can and focus on building a strong team, that is move forward with those who want to.

SFI provides a number of ways in which the sponsor can contact his or her affiliates. Here are a few examples:

1. PSA, CSA Mailer
2. Genealogy
3. E-cards
4. Live Chat

As you can see, contact through E-mail is one of them. It is true that in some cases the affiliate’s E-mail is blocked. In this case, try and use the other options of communication. However, if you are still not getting any feedback from the affiliate it is possible that he or she is not committed at all or does not want correspondence through E-mail.
To be an awesome sponsor always follow the “Rules of Success” and do not waste much time on people who are sceptical. Avoid majoring in the minors, keeping in mind that it is not the quantity but rather the quality of affiliates that you are after. However, to get the quality you will need to advertise and the more affiliates that sign up the higher the chances of finding the few committed ones. As you may already be aware, this guideline is helpful in being an awesome sponsor:

1. Attain at least EA or higher rank
2. Recruit 5 active PSAs to the level of EA2
3. Duplicate your ideas to the team

If your active PSAs also duplicate their actions then your team is on the right path.
Utilise SFI resources or tools of communication to pass on your ideas and lead by example.

A weekly message to your team is a good way of informing your team of the latest developments as well as suggesting some of your own ideas. It is a good practice to divide your newsletter in several sections, with each addressing a specific need.

It also helps if you can begin by identifying areas in which you think your PSAs or CSAs need help or encouragement. You can check this out by visiting their ledgers to see where they are lacking or are doing well.

To those who are lacking in many areas you can use Genealogy to send a group message to them on how they can improve. If your PSAs are active it is sufficient to send just one newsletter per week to all of them.

You can also include, your own experiences from Tripleclicks such as winning an auction or a game as a way of encouraging your team to take part in Pricebenders auctions or Eager Zebra games.

In you weekly message it is also a good idea to include a section where you acknowledge your PSAs and CSAs achievements such as reaching a milestone or winning a prize. This is a way of showing that their efforts are appreciated and that they are valued members of the team. In turn such simple gestures can do a lot to motivate your team.

It is not clear from your question whether you are asking about investing funds in getting PSAs or investing in them when they are already in your team. I will address both issues in order to clear any doubts.

When you want to build a team (PSAs and CSAs), you invest both time and funds to get them. This could be through your own advertising or through buying from say PSAs to go. If you do not have enough funds to get them, then it is a good idea to focus on free advertising and also apply offline marketing techniques such as the distribution of flyers or face-to-face encounters.

When PSAs or CSAs are already in your team, it is more important to invest your time rather than funds in them. By this I mean you should find time to communicate with them, as it is the only way you can transfer or duplicate your ideas to them. I think it is not necessary to invest more funds in them at this stage.

Your role as a sponsor does not mean you have to buy affiliates for them or generally do their work. The more time you spend corresponding with them the more you will know what help they need and a good relationship with them will promote team bondage and help your PSAs to stay active.

If one can identify the root of the problem, one has already won part of the battle and the rest of the battle is fixing the problem.

Effective communication is part and parcel of successful leadership as it is not enough to have great ideas, which cannot be shared. So your first step should be to identify what is holding you back from effectively passing on your ideas. For example is it language or lack of communication resources? With respect to the sponsor-affiliate relationship, SFI has made available a platform from which the sponsor can talk to their affiliates. These include PSA and CSA mailer as well as Genealogy. With these resources, you can send messages to your affiliate’s homepage. In addition, I think you can also improve your communication by learning from the draft letters such as those given for welcoming your new affiliates. Over a period of time you are going to improve upon them.

If on the other hand the issue is language, then you can use the translation tools to help you. Most of the time however, we may find that the problem is the absence of communication at all between the sponsor and the affiliate. Although one’s success is not completely determined by one’s sponsor, the absence of dialogue in the first few days of joining can be unsettling and may force those without self-motivation to throw in the towel.

In face-to-face communication, how we present our message, including our body language is as just as important as the message itself. In the absence of face-to-face interaction, how the sponsor writes to the affiliate is just as important as the ideas one wants to communicate.

Finally, I would say spend sometime looking at the answers that will be presented to your question and see if you can identify where you are lacking and apply yourself accordingly.

A successful teacher is a successful student!

The truth is learning never really stops, as there is always something new. On the hand one can only teach others what one knows. Your question relates to combining the roles of teacher and student at the same time. As a teacher or sponsor the fruits of your work will be seen through duplication or how your affiliates perform. Having said that, it is not always the teacher’s fault that some affiliates do not perform.

As a student of SFI always stay on top, by keeping yourself up to date with new developments. In this way, you will always be ready to help both your old and new PSAs when they need your assistance. Of course it is not possible to have answers to all questions but the more you learn the more you are capable and even when you do not have an answer straight away you should be in a position to direct your PSAs to the right sources.

They say experience is the best teacher and to some extent this is true. As long as you continue to put into practice what you are learning, you will eventually find it easier to combine both roles.

Before people can buy into your ideas, they first need to buy into you!

On the business forums do not start by rushing into presenting links but by developing a working relationship with its members. Let them know you first, that is who you are and what you do. Over a period of time this will allow you to establish credibility and integrity. Your own success will be enough testimony for them to have confidence in you. Remember that people are not going to do business with someone they do not trust, no matter what he or she says.
Once you have won their trust you can also easily explain that SFI is a trustworthy business with over 17 years of experience.
You can also think of it this way: what first comes to mind when you receive email from someone you do not know? If the name is an established name, you will be looking forward to know what is in the mail. If the name or email address is peculiar you may think it is spam and may not open it.

When you have established yourself on the business forum, many will be looking forward to your ideas!

Followers can easily sense tendencies of a leader coming across as demanding for selfish interests rather than those of the people being served.

The sponsor cannot force the affiliate to stay at SFI as that is neither guiding nor helping. It is better for the sponsor to adapt a friendly approach that involves listening first.
Take an example of say advising your affiliate on the advantages of setting up a standing order at Triplecliks in order to maintain EA status with ease. It would be wrong to tell the affiliate that he or she MUST set up a standing order because that would be viewed as demanding. A better approach would be to say that it is a good idea to set up one if you can afford. There are many reasons why people may not do this or that and some issues are outside the sponsor’s control.

Above all, it is better to demonstrate your leadership by example; for there is nothing worse than telling your affiliates to do things that you are not doing yourself. Leading by example also make the duplication process is easier. The affiliate will follow your words, if they are matched by your deeds.
