What advice would you give to an SFI affiliate who wants to create and maintain their own SFI website?

Short answer? Don't.
SFI has given us great websites that need no work. The URL is not wonderful, but buy a nice domain name cheaply and set it to point to the SFI site.
Spend the time creating a blog. If you get a gmail address a blog space comes with it, for free. You can do almost as much with the blog as with a site, and it will probably produce better results.

Based on your question I have no idea why anyone would want to do this.
The whole point of SFI is allowing affiliates to have a business without the usual administration of running a traditional business, in this case ensuing that the website is up to date (prices, new updates, new products etc.) , safe from hackers and does not infringe any copyrights just to name a few.
I would rather advise them to create a website that promotes their SFI business and creates hits for sign ups and sales.

That is great! We are at SFI to open our own stores and sale products. We should also shop at our site. How can we sale to someone else if we don't shop at our own store.
Activity on SFI will give you more points and you will also make money as you grow. The best thing about having your own website, is that you will look more professional to your friends and family, so they will take you more serious.

In my opinion, in regards to question asked, "NO NEED TO CREATE AND MAINTAIN THEIR OWN SFI WEBSITE,because SFI HAS ALREADY HOSTED WEBSITE WITH PROVEN TRACK RECORDS with all basic amenities which required for successful marketing with wide spread level.
No much traffic can be noticed on a personally created w e b site of his/her own as compared to that of SFI.
It is totally unwise step to create and maintain own SFI website, which will go un hopefully in ruin or idle or not fruitful to creator at all.
SFI has established GOODWILL and proficient website since long. So it is like throw a torch light against THE SUN.
Totally Uncomfortable to creator.
Very Hopefully, it will be discarded by MASS for present as well as future.

I will encourage him/her to take it serious and be consistent with it. Also to gain enough knowledge by reading the BASICs and LAUNCHPADs in order to know how to promote his/her business through that medium. By doing so, he will know how to include the customised links where readers, at the click of it, will be directed to his/her page and their activities (purchases, sales, enlistment of products, registrations) will be attributed him/her.
for me i will say : go ahead. create a website is not easy as you think. but if you have money it will help to advertise. but remember we have many tools offered by SFI and many GATEWAYS. for me i advise you to use all tools of SFI and i hope the result will be high. ok you must dream high, but go step by step and your result will be good.
again, use all tools of SFI and think to others after.

I think its a good idea for your affiliate to have their who SFI website and that they want to do it them selves. It shows you that they are willing to go the extra mile to build their business which is a good thing instead not doing the business. So you can commend him/her for that idea. Make sure you guide them to create a good website,name and products for that website.

The only advice i can give is for the affiliate to check with SFI and get their permission as to the contents they would like to include on their website to avoid problems. This way, posting contents and articles which may be in breach with SFI's Policies, Guidelines, Procedures and Ethics can be prevented.
