There are at least two ways to do this.

Option 1: setup your coop and you add them to it at your cost at first as a gesture of appreciation and give each a few shares. This is a good motivational method.

Option 2: can be in place or appending to option 1 or even in parallel. This option is before purchasing a coop share or putting any investment to it,ping you down line and request if the they want to be a part of it let you know and give them the cost per share. Tell them to send you the money to Paypal and you will add that to the pool and then they no have a investment in it to participate.

You might find you receive a lot of takers. If this is the case, you can lower the pool cost with the higher coop purchases.

This question assumes that you have a robust relationship with your downline. If you do not, go back and correct this problem.

To get your downline to participate in your co-op do the following.

(1) Explain to them what the co-op is all about, that is, the aim(s) and the benefits to be derived by them from the co-op.

(2) Tell them the cost of the co-op package and how it compares to what they might spend with other packages outside.

(3) Because you know them or have a good rapport with your downline (that is why the relationship issue above is so important), you set a co-op that can accommodate everybody or most of them financially. Make sure that everybody can easily pay to your money merchant.

(4) For those that cannot bear the cost even as low as you try to put it, you would have to decide how to carry them along. This is a personal decision you have to make. One principle that should guide you is to make sure that your team is not divided.

(5) For those who do not understand English, get people from their countries to explain your co-p to them.

(6) Lastly, let everybody know the sharing formula from the co-op proceeds, that is, PSAs. At this point you would also remind them of how to handle the incoming PSAs.

The use of a Co-op is a great tool in the growth of your down-line as well as the down-line belonging to your team members.

I read the suggested Co-op Manager ideas from SFI under the Power-Tools Tab and opted to do the following:

I chose to purchase several units/shares of the S-Builder Co-op and then share sign-ups with members in my down-line. I chose to do this as my down-line members assist with my business growth and earnings; therefore, this is simple way to make an investment back into them.

I am mindful of the quote that Zig Ziglar states in all of his books and presentations, "You will get what you want by helping as many people as you can to get what they want". Consciously, I review every month what the activity level of down-line members looks like and then I simply sign-up affiliates under my team's co-op. Once they are signed in, I send each person a Team Mail informing them of what I have done and simply request that they be the best they can be every day to lead their down-line members to do their best with owning a SFI business. It is that simple.

I did initially try to have EA2 down-line members send e-mails expressing interest to receive sign-ups through a Co-op but two things happened: 1. no one was coming forward to celebrate their personal best when becoming an EA2, and 2. no growth was being shared as all the S-Builder units were only benefiting me-no one else. Thus, I decided to change my business practice to simply recognize good work by signing-up down-line members to receive sign-ups/new affiliates without their permission.

Personally, this is how I create meaningful connections with my down-line members as they work every day to invest time in their SFI; subsequently, their efforts are investing in my SFI business too. So I decided to sign-up different down-line members every month to receive down-line members from team Co-op.

To get down-line members to participate in a Co-op can be done in a variety of ways so please do consider the different ways - and be creative, as there will be something that will fit how you run your SFI business. Setting up a Co-or or more than one will benefit everyone.

Very good question Lorrie and one that I have been grappling with myself. I recently set up a co-op for my team and I have been trying to get them to participate.

I have found a few very useful tools:

1. Educate. Tell them about the value that participating in the co-op can bring to them. Both actual value for money invested and comparative value of potential returns to time. Many of us do not have the time nor access to go out and recruit affiliates and the co-op is a great way to pool resources and tackle this.
Be careful to be honest and not make grandiose promises of returns that could result in disappointed affiliates.

2. Demonstrate. Publish the results. Show the team members that the co-op is working and that participants are benefiting. If they are interested in pursuing their business, they will want to be a part of a successful project particularly if it can be accessed at minimal cost.

3. Incorporate. As Team Leader, allocate shares to affiliates as prizes or performance bonuses or whatever reason suits your objectives. They will experience the value of participation and may be encouraged to be more active.

Step by step preparation is necessary.. You can't just ask them to join the co-op because the results of such an act will be fruitless unless you are a great sponsor or the affiliates are well aware of SFI and marketing trends ..

Steps to follow:

1. Explain about the compensation plans and the benefits of duplication and sponsoring.

2. Explain them clearly about the co-op,key code tracking and the mechanism of getting signups by them.

3. Most importantly you have to insist that not all the signups will be active because after they join the co-op and did get inactive affiliates they will hate your co-op and eventually you..

4. Then design as possible a low cost per share for them because their team is going to be your team..

5. Inform the keycode of your co-op and when they will get the signups..

6. Give free shares to the most active affiliates..This decision must be based on the VP streak badge and not the total VPs..Because financially good people buy products and get VPs but a financially backward affiliate may have less VP but logs in daily then he/she must be rewarded..

7. Finally,show them proof that the affiliates you got from the co-op are active..

If all the steps are followed correctly they will join the co-op..

I have been providing co-ops for my team members over the last 12 months. I offer paid shares in the co-ops and also free co-op shares to reward my movers for their efforts through the month.

Before offering shares in co-ops be sure that you understand how they work and where you are going to advertise the co-op link.

To get your team members (PSAs, CSAs) to participate in a paid co-op you can include details of your Coop in your Team Mail or a personal email. If you are offering paid shares you need to let them know the price per share and the payment method. Personally I was using PayPal to receive payment but you may have another preference.

It is important that you are not profiting from the co-ops and to let your team members know this. Gaining profit from your downline through co-ops could be considered by some as 'dishonest'. If you are going to have shares in the same co-op be sure to contribute the same as you are asking your downline to contribute.

NOTE: Do not start your co-op advertising until you believe you have all the members you require.

To begin to form a co-op must be very careful first to advertise cost of some useful websites to get good results. You must do your homework before forming a co-op, or if you are not able to provide good results for downline, then the result will be negative.If you are not yet well documented it is better to stay with S, builder or purchase pricebender PSA auction.
  If you give good results, downline will be more than happy to participate in it.

The best way to use a coop is as an incentive to get your downline active. Design a monthly contest where you offer shares to those who complete their EA designation or whatever you are trying to promote for the month. Then put the winner in for that month. You can remove them the next month if you want.

Offer shares for a percentage of the cost if you want, but I've found it hard to get participation when I charge, but I do get more activity when I offer it as a contest.

The cost of giving out shares free is small compared to the benefit you get if an individual is keeping their EA.

A coop works great even if you can only afford 1 Sbuilder unit. You can send the weekly letters and other mail to anyone who joins in any level. If you have a member that isn't to keen about sending welcome letters, you can for them. You can also include any downline level in your coop and other activities.

Hello there,

This is a direct question and one which requires a direct answer.

There are a number of ways in which you can get your downline to participate in your Co-op. SFI has made it easy for you to communicate and get information straight to your downlines....So make use of them.

Send all your downlines a team mail detailing how you which the co-op will run, where you intend to place the co-op link for maximum exposure to viewers and how much you intend each of them to pay for a place in the co-op.

It is not enough to send just a team mail. You have to make use of your stream post as well to act as a reminder. You can send two stream post weekly to remind them to participate with a months notice or there about.

Usually, you may not get a good response from your team based on my personal experience. But the serious minded ones who are ready to advance their business will respond.

So straight up, make use of your team mail and stream post to encourage your downline to participate in your co-op.

If you have some experience with a Co-op and know how to run it and you have enough of a downline then you could put out an email telling them you are going to be starting a co-op and telling them to contact you if they are interested. Be sure and state the benefits of the co-op. SFI tools make it easy to assign shares earned by co-op members.

If you have no or little co-op experience you might join one for free or for their small monthly fee like the SFI Team Co-op and give all your downline your referral link. Once you feel you have a good way to generate Co-op traffic yourself via the tools you have picked up you can start your own and offer your downline your own co-op too. The co-op has given me lots of tools and helped me get the confidence to be admin of my own Traffic Exchange.
