As a Beginner in online advertising, there are few points to consider before taking action. If you follow the following guidelines, you will get results. Know what you want with your advertising, where to get it and what will you do with it once you have it.

To get you started:

There are so many ways by which you can learn all there is to learn about advertising using the internet...
1) As you mentioned, there is the SFI Training and there is a lot of info and trainings on the subject;
2) Then, you can ask your SFI upline, or your a2a friends or your colleagues in the forum... you are most certain to find an expert in one way or another;
3) Then, you can search on the internet (on Google for example) to find out information about ways of advertising and, then, more specifically on one way or another;
4) And, finally, the best way to learn is to jump in and do it... you will do some trial and errors but you will learn from them and if you persevere, you will become an expert.
Some people just keep searching and searching waiting to be an expert before they get started... but, it is not the way, as you will never master something until you do it and, then, practice, practice, practice and practice again until you become a PRO!

You could learn a lot from experienced bloggers who have advertising in their blog. Look for the ones ranked high in Alexa with quality content, they will probably have a good bit of comments from other bloggers who know about advertising.

Another way to learn about advertising would be to look at Amazon or eBay for "Advertising For Dummies". It is actually very affordable.

You could also join IAHBE (The International Association Of Home Business Entrepreneurs), available at TripleClicks and comes with 1500 VersaPoints, so you don't have to worry about EA status while you're learning.

SFI provides plenty of training for the novice internet advertiser. There is so much more that can be learned from eBooks, search engines, and other sources, but you will never know it all, let alone be able to comprehend it and organize it all in your mind.

So, instead of wasting your time and thinking that you are accomplishing something, use the marketing ideas that SFI supplies to novice, intermediate, and advanced advertisers.

You learn best by doing. And as you do, you will see new avenues that you will feel comfortable taking.

Set goals with your advertising. Don't chase every rabbit in the field. Start with one type of advertising and stick with it until you are ready to explore and learn about the next.

The most important thing is just do it. Be sure to use the text ads, key codes and hit tracking.

Great question! There are so many ways! But for me, here are the best ways to learn (after SFI training) about advertising that worked for me when I was a complete novice:

1. I used search engines like google.com, yahoo.com, bing.com etc.: I used search engines most especially google.com to search the internet on tips and hints about advertising. With search engines you can discover some great forum posts, nonprofit websites articles, eBooks, magazines, youtube videos etc. that can help you learn about advertising (even as a complete novice). A novice should at least be able to type in relevant keywords for the search engines to search.

2. I asked my Sponsor/Upline Team Leader(s): You can get great advertising tips from your sponsor or team leader. If you are a total novice, your sponsor has been doing his/her SFI business before sponsoring you and probably should know at least a bit about advertising using the internet.
3. I joined SFIs a2a membership: With this feature, connect with as many successful affiliates as you can. Ask of advertising tips from them and you will be very surprised to see that many of them will be willing to help.

4. I participated in the SFI forum: The forum is where you can ask questions and get answers 24hrs a day, 7days a week, day and night. It is just like having hundreds of sponsors. Get your questions answered at the forum since there are a lot more people to ask there than just your sponsor. The forum can even help you get answers to questions that couldn’t be answered by your sponsor/upline/team leaders.

5. I bought eBooks with subject based on advertising from the hundreds available at TripleClicks.

6. Lastly but not the least is this Ask SC.

Learning never ends. My advice is to stick to #1 above and use all other as an attachment... Your story is sure to change with time. I hope you find this answer useful.

The best way to learn about advertising is to jump in with both feet.

Start off with free banner exchanges, safelists, traffic rotators, that kind of thing. There are lots of free ways to advertise! (Set up 2 gmail accounts, 1 for admin stuff, and 1 for all the junk ads you'll get in return...)

Split-test your ads. What do I mean by that? You run two ads that are the same, with only one difference between the two. The difference could be in the wording, the colors, the type of text, whatever. The idea is to see which version performs better.

Also, try to select different target groups for your ads. For example, you may think that young men may be most receptive of your product, but it may turn out that middle-aged men might be a better group. You won't know if you don't try to target that demographic group. So in this case, you use identical ads, but use a demographically segmented medium. (Facebook is great for demographic testing!)

If possible, use something like Google to track your ads. (You can find out more about ad-tracking by googling the term.) Try a few variations against each other, and compare the results. Using the better colors, fonts, and words, you can put together another batch of ads to test.

While you're waiting for test results, you can look up what different colors are associated with different buying habits, how wording will change the response of your viewer, and how text styles will improve your results.

It can take a while, but you will develop an understanding of how you can best reach your target audience, and who they really are.

Split-testing is an integral part of effective advertising. Once you learn how to do it, it becomes easy to do, and doesn't take much extra effort.

It's really overwhelming when you are new in online advertising. But we don't have a choice but to learn it, because the foundation of almost all online earning are mostly based on getting tons of affiliates or down-lines, and that includes SFI.

A novice should know that they can do it in two general ways:

1) Free advertising - In free advertising you will do a lot of work and you should advertise in a lot of website and will give you low to moderate result. Or even zero result.

2) Paid advertising - You will do little work you advertise only in few website but will give moderate to high results.

What I want a novice advertiser to know are the key success factor of advertising whether it's on free or paid websites.

1) The right site to advertise. Finding the right website to advertise in the most challenging part on online advertising. We have a handy tool for this, that is the search engines like Google. But search engine gives you according to the key words that you typed in the search bar. Therefore you should know what word to put in there.

"Free ads" for example is not the right word to put in there. Sure you can find website offering free ads but who are reading those free ads? almost no one! So you must put in a keyword that are related to your online business. I hope you can follow the logic of what I am saying.

By the way, if you find a site, keep it to yourself, hehehehe that is your own pond where you can have a big catch.

2) The second success factor is the number of visitors or members the website has. Do not join a website with only 50 members!!! Check the traffic using Alexa. The reason for this is obvious the more people visiting the site the more chance to read you ads.


3) Your approach. When the site that you found for example is forum, then abide the by rules of the moderator, different website requires different approach. When you are allowed to explain your ads, be very prepared on what you will say.

4) Your Targeted audience. - Many SFI affiliates end up discourage because they have a lot of affiliates but none or few are working or buying. Why? they don't have the capacity to purchase like you. You must target people who have the capacity to do online transactions. Geographically they are found in the first world countries. So if the website allows you to get a targeted place of your ads, make use of them.

In Face book for example how to find people who are interested in online earning and has the capacity to do internet transaction? I usually search a key word in FB search bar and I will find groups and fan pages related to my key word. Then I join, if it is a group, then I will start searching for individuals whose names are American or Europeans and start befriending them.. you know the rest of the story..

If a novice can learn how to do these four success factors he is close to being successful as online advertiser and as SFI affiliate.

Being novice and still in learning process, I started searching for free classified sites in google and yahoo.

It became a routine for me to choose any 1 Free Classified Site and post my Ad there.

No result for few weeks . But after that I started getting few sign-ups daily and the process is still on.

I never spend a single dime but gradually my team is growing and growing fast now.
