I think that promoting effectively through Television will depend on your goals, budget and the type of business (product & compensation plan). Furthermore, it is important to do your homework before making a decision to start promoting SFI and TripleClicks on Television.

Generally TV advertising costs too much. However, in the US, if you are in a mid-tier television market , you can probably start seeing your ads appearing in a prime time show starting at a thousand US dollar per month. The advertising costs will be dependent on the time you would like your ad to be shown and also your region (city). While in a small market, you will be able to run a campaign with a much cheaper costs.

There is a way to get free commercials made. If you’re going to use a television commercial production company, you are going to pay around five to twenty thousand US to create a 30 second commercial. However, you may be able to get your local broadcaster or cable system provider to create commercials for minimal or no cost. If you buy advertising from a local broadcaster, they will often create a commercial for between five hundred and two thousand US. Before promoting SFI and TripleClicks on Television, you should consider the following points:

How much does TV advertising Cost?

1) How many people locally watch the show that you want your advertisements to appear on? The station should be able to provide you with data from reputable Adstats orgranization.

2) What is the average CPM (cost for the TV ad to be seen 1,000 times) for that type of television program?

For example you want to buy 10 spots over a month on an 10:00 AM news show on your local station. The show is watched by 20,000 people on average. You could calculate a fair price with the following formula.

(number of spots) x (number of viewers in thousands) x (average CPM for that type of show) = ballpark fair price
In this example, 10 x 20 x  $11.15 =  $2,230

3) Buy the shows which prospect’s watch or are likely to watch

Your local television station will allow you to advertise on specific shows.  Survey your clients to see what shows they watch. Also, do a demographic survey of your prospects (age, gender, etc).

 You should share the demographic data that you collected with the account executives at your local television stations and ask them to suggest what shows match that demographic. If the shows that they suggest are the same as the shows your prospects told you they watch, then the decision on what show to advertise is an easy one. If they suggest a different show, you should do another informal survey but specifically ask them about the shows suggested by the account executive.

4) Don’t spread your commercials out, rather concentrate them within limits

- You want to first focus on one show.

- For half hour show, you ideally want to show two SFI/TC advertisements.

- For an hour show, you ideally want to have two or three ads.

One way of making your TV ad dollars go farther is to use 15 second commercials instead of 30 second commercials.

You want the viewers of a show to think you’re a major advertiser and remember your ads. By delivering two ads in 30 minutes or 3 during the course of an hour, you dramatically increase the chance of viewer noticing your ad. Off course, too many ads becomes a waste of your advertising dollars.

Lets say you only have enough money to buy 5 spots per month. In this case you would want to concentrate those ads over the course of 3 days. By concentrating the ads over a shorter period of time, you will increase their impact. If the advertising works, you can expand your TV advertising out into another week of the month. When you have the month saturated, you can jump into advertising in another program on the same station.

5) Key elements of good television commercials

Use a local television station to help you in creating your commercials. They should assign a producer to work with you. Your commercial should have the following elements.

- Tell your prospects who you are – The name of your business SFI/TripleClicks should be very clear

- Give your prospects an offer or reason to visit SFI/TripleClicks (ie, an E-book about saving on utility or grocery bills, TC Gift Cards, etc.) . You can ask them to mention this commercial to get your free offer.

I have been through this, so am going to share my experience with you.
Television advert is very expensive depending upon your timeframe.
To promote SFI/TC on TV is not going to be a one time thing if you want to get èffective and desired results and that will cost you big money.
So what do you do?
1. Plan your budget and go by that budget.
2. TV commercials mostly go by minutes and that won't favour you unless you know how to present your facts well and accurate within the specified minutes.
3. Identify your targeted audience. TV covers a wide range and you must be able to zero in your audience e.g who do you really want? The young, the Jobless, the unemployed, the old, the disabled?
TV helps you to reach all at the comfort of their homes. They all need both SFI&TC, but you must know when they will be at home to watch your advert. That's the purpose of your advert.
4. TV is divided into different sections:
a. Commercials
b. News at 5, 7, 9 p.m etc
c. Soap operas
d. Comedies.
e. Programs
f. Panoramas: these are for businessmen etc.
You must be able to know which carries vast audience and the section people watch most.
Most young people don't watch news, the adults do. So to reach all, you must patronize the common denominator that binds and brings them together and that'l be soap opera and comedy.
There you do your advert intermittently to captivate them.
5. You can also feature or create programs that feature Tripleclicks ECA program where you are asked questions and perhaps your audience are linked in to participate via phone calls during the program. This will give you control over the program and you are able to control a vast audience. Oh yeah, it'l cost you big money, but you'l sure get your results all the same.

You can not promote SFI/TripleClicks using any form of advertising except that which is approved in the marketing section. The affiliate agreement states: 1. Affiliate agrees that an SFI Affiliate is an independent contractor and not an employee, agent, partner, legal representative, or franchisee of SFI. Affiliate may not portray him or herself as an employee or owner of SFI corporate, the SFI Affiliate Center, or any other SFI or TripleClicks subsidiary. Affiliate further agrees not to incur any debt, expense, obligation on behalf of, for, or in the name of SFI.

26. Affiliate shall follow SFI advertising guidelines and agrees not to misrepresent SFI products or services. Affiliate agrees to use only SFI-approved ads. However, if you are a Team Leader, you may submit your own ads for SFI's approval. They must be approved, however, before you can publish them.

In light of the facts, if you are acting as xyz company authorized to do business in your state and you are a team leader you may be able to use some of SFI marketing material in a 30 sec spot only with approval. I really wouldn't advise this because there is just too much liability. The best thing to do is own your own company and if you wish to promote it and your products on TV then that's up to you.

The only tv ads that I can see for SFI/TripleClicks would have to come from corporate and they would have to be in accordance with all of the other marketing materials that we as affiliates already can use using the approved marketing methods. We just have to use the marketing aids as they are presented. TV ads are costly and would take away from the EP.

One of the biggest rule is that you must use SFI pre-written text ads or banners unless you are a Team Leader. Then you may write your own add and send it in for approval before you use it.

Everything on television is either advertisement, educational, or, entertainment. So before taking SFI or TC to the little screen, you should have your plans approved.

There are several venues of advertising on television:
+ Appear on the news or as a guest on a talk show
+ Sponsor an info-mercial
+ Pay for a regular commercial.

The cost of these varies depending on the size of the viewing audience to the status of the station. .....the big national/international station far exceeds that of the local neighborhood station.

Most of these are scripted so you will want to have the procedures to be complete before filming date.You also need to know the total cost and be able to pay it.

For television advertising to be effective, it is depends so much on the advert’s quality, frequency and airing time. Firstly you need a healthy budget or bank balance. Advertising on television is an expensive exercise. It is only worth it if it will bring in the income you need to cover such an expense.

If your goal is to introduce SFI and Triple Clicks you will see the results but if your goal is to promote your own business I feel you will not see much success. Why do I say this?

People do not pay full attention to adverts - they "screen" what they hear and see while they quickly do something else during advert time. This means they will take note of the names SFI and Triple Clicks and that Triple Clicks is an online shop. Most people will not grab a piece of paper and write down the entire gateway link inclusive of your SFI ID. If they are interested they will go and search for the words SFI and Triple Clicks and if they join or purchase something they go into the pool of affiliates and the money goes to the seller with no commission to you.

Technology makes it so easy for us - it is so much easier to click on a link before you type and search for something. Searching for keywords again is easier than trying to copy a link from a television advertisement quickly and accurately.

I think you can see where I am going with this - to get results you need to make it as easy as possible and I don't think television is doing that. Even written adverts in a newspaper, banners and business cards will be more successful than television for YOUR own business.

IF SFI and TC became prevalent on the TV in ads or infomercials, it would drastically increase the ability to recruit ECA stores.To use TV to promote TCECA stores could be done by setting up a coop with each ECA store that was interested in having ads could join. There is a tremendous language barrier, but ads can be made so that they transverse language or the participating members could handle short introductions in their language for TV ads to be placed in their country.The Fingerhut ad described below could be placed in any language and people would know what it was about. Fingerhut it likely to be understood in any country that they are prevalent in.

A coop could be formed that every member could participate. This would be an ad for PSA members. It could be presented as a membership organization and pictures of people from all different countries could be streamed across the ad. When someone joined, a member of the coop from the country of the inquiring person could be asked to respond.This way we would be advertising so as to make the SFI logo familiar in many countries and explanation would be kept to a bare minimum.

If it were an ad, I would pattern it after Fingerhut's ad which is clearly followed and easy to tell that they have many products. It is nothing more than a bunch of interesting product pictures with Fingerhut in the middle.TCECA would be a presentation of the TCLogo with numerous pictured items around it. Each picture having the name of the ECA store underneath the picture, in whatever language the ECA speaks. Because we are promoting the logo, the ads could be published in all languages and TV systems; since it is nothing but product pictures and a logo. The pictures could be streaming across the page above, below and around the TCECA logo. ECA's could purchase the ads to put in their country, and record a short introduction in their own language.

If it were an infomercial, the coop owner or possibly SFI & TC could produce the infomercial, then set up a coop and charge the ECA members a portion of the costs of making and distributing the infomercial. The SFI portion could include signing up PSA's, who would then be distributed through other SFI members who had joined the infomercial coop, but didn't have active ECA stores.

Since the language barrier would be greater in the infomercial than in the suggested ad, provisions would have to be made with ECA members using Skype or some other web conference system where each country and all languages could be presented.

This is probably too big a project for any individual member. SFI would need over site and to give approval of any ad or infomercial of this scale or risk their business.

I hope that SFI will take a look at Fingerhut's advertisement because it is something that TCECA program could emulate with great success. Being on TV would greatly add to SFI's and TC's credibility.

As to any one member advertising on TV, it could probably be done on a local basis by using materials SFI already supplies. It would depend a lot on what local stations charge and require of their advertisers.
