There are so many ways to grow your SFI business if you happen to be a shy person or happen to not have full confidience with managing the business on-line.

It is important to not focus on the things that "I can not do" but please take time - not just 2 minutes, but sit down with a tea or coffee and itemize on a sheet of paper what you can do. If you find this activity difficult, please ask a close friend, business associate or another family member to join you on this little acitivity.

The acivity is to list all the Skills and Know-How that you possess> Yes, you have skills and know-how that can be used in this business so let us consider a few ideas to get your skills inventory list going:

Desire- this is critical as this keeps lighting your inside fire to keep motivated to be an entrepreneur

Reading - this is a critical skill to have so that you can read posts from other affiliates and learn from others even from their blogs on what works for growing your business

Friendships - you have connections with people so that means to me that you know how to manage yourself with others so can opening start to use your friendship skills to learn what your friends want from out of life and introduce SFI to them to share the very fact that SFI can help them achieve what they want,

Listening - this is a critical skill to have when working as a business owner. You need to listen to your customers and fellow team mates to better understand what they want or need from you. Once you know what they truly want, then you can proceed to help them to be helpful because you are following through on what he/she wants.

Your list should continue from there.

As you can see, listing your current skills and describing how the skill helps you to be a better SFI affiliate for yourself and others will help you to build the confidence to grow your own business. You draw on your skills to create a business plan that uses the skills you all ready have. Don't be something that you are not - just be yourself and watch your SFI business grow.

I really understand what it is like to be “shy” I am somewhat still shy even after dealing with public orientated sales business’s off and on almost all of my working years.

What I have found is that when using the Internet there is no reason to be shy because there is no “face to face” contact. Almost all of your contact with prospects will be using the keyboard for your communications.

Even when it comes to typing I was also very shy because I am one of the world’s worst spellers. I have learned that my computer corrects a lot of my little words which is heaven sent. But some of the longer words, well let’s say even the computer does not recognize what word I am trying to use. I had to create my own privet “word list” cheat sheet.

When you say “not Internet savvy” it strikes a big bell with me. I never have been on the Internet until three years ago (I’m 65 now). Almost all of my Internet knowledge has been learned while working my SFI and TripleClicks business.

The Internet can be a really overwhelming system if you are looking at all the possibilities that are currently available to the Internet user.

The first thing I had to learn was that I do not have to know how to use the “total” Internet system to work my SFI business. The best way to learn how to use the Internet is to learn only what you need to know at the time being.

If you are going to run ads then learn how to copy and paste your content in a free safe-list ad site. Many of the sites are really easy to use – copy and paste- click – done.

Your “fear” (limited knowledge) decreases each time you use the Internet, it does not take long to get the hang of it (so to speak). Surf the Internet daily – practice makes perfect.

Hi Evelyn, your question has two elements that should be addressed to give meaningful reply.
One is being SHY and the other is NOT INTERNET SAVVY.

A. Being shy requires you build up your self-confidence:

1. Don't approach people aimlessly. Have a purpose for the meeting.
2. Set priority of what to discuss in the meeting.
3. Remove anxiety, just do it; put on boldness and get out there for the meeting.
4. Smile and be friendly; a friendly smile tells the other person you have no threatening intention.
5. Eye to eye contact is essential, look at that person directly in the eyes.
5. Greet and seek first to listen; it will help you to achieve a safe starting point for your conversation.
6. Focus on the other person, asking interesting things about them gives you a good image before them.
7. Since you are meeting for business purpose, have some business cards with you - give the business card and wait for response.
8. Get help from your friends that have good confidence in meeting people.
9. Like any skill, building your self-confidence takes practice. Keep doing it you will get better at it.
10. Participate in public speaking programs so as to continue to boost your morale.

B. Engage in continuous communication with your team members, when they succeed you succeed:
To communicate effectively with your team, the following points are relevant:

1. See your team members as colleagues and not your sub-ordinate, therefore don't be too pushy on what you want them to do.
2. Carefully select your words to be in form of advice rather than criticizing.
3. Use inclusive words like "we", "our", "all of us" etc. in your email.
4. Appreciate your affiliates' contribution before mentioning what he or she should improve upon (if any).
5. Always share your past experiences in related or similar situation and how you survived it.
6. If using email; let your mail content be formal instead of informal.
7. Lead by example, ensure you have done what you want your PSAs and/or CSAs to do.
8. Hash words should NEVER proceed from your mouth to your team members at any time.
9. Let them know you are willing to help them achieve success as your team members.
10 .Ensure your leadership page and blog are up-to-date;direct them to your blog and Leadership page in every correspondence.

C. Let me say here that what you don't know you have to learn. But you can still succeed without being an internet expert is SFI.
You can put your money to work, and it will deliver the gains to you:

1. Participate in pricebender auction.
2. Sponsor new PSAs from time-to-time through S-Builder coop, PSAs-to-Go etc
3. Get a standing order of minimum 1500 VP every month.

This sounds like the perfect question for me. Because I am shy and not internet savvy.

Use the marketing aids available from SFI. There are:

1) SFI X-cards - particularly good to attract people who are already looking for an alternative income or a second income because it says "Grow a second income" prominently on the card.

2) TripleClicks X-cards - good for people who are not really looking to do business, but maybe would like something cheap. Because it advertises Pricebenders, the Eager Zebra games, garage sales and our music centre.

3) Wave3 X-cards - good for those who would be attracted to "free stuff every month" because that's what it says on the card.

For the X-cards, you can give them out anywhere. Leave them on the table after you eat. Leave them at the laundromat. Leave them amongst the aisle as you window shop (Note: Do not litter. No one likes to clean up a mess other people made. Just give out 1 card a day)

4) ECA postcards - you can mail them to companies
5) SFI postcards - you can mail them to individuals

Again drip advertising: one postcard a day should keep you busy.

7) SFI T-shirts
8) TripleClicks T-shirts

Simple: Buy them and wear them. Wait for the questions to come. Even though you are shy, when people ask specific questions it is easy to answer, especially if you are enthusiastic about SFI in the first place.

While those who know me would undoubtedly consider me an extrovert, I’m confident that these 9 simple strategies can apply to anyone who wants to improve their relationships both online and IRL (in real life).

1. Change Your Mindset

Stop thinking in terms of “networking” and instead aim to make connecting with affiliates part of your every day life. It’s not a game to be won, it’s a life to be lived.
Every relationship you have is an opportunity to learn and grow as a person. Some relationships will be short term, others you will carry with you for the rest of your life.
Not every personal or business interaction will go as planned; sometimes this will be a pleasant surprise, other times not so much. Ah, life.
Be open. Be vulnerable. Soak in the lessons reflected by the all-telling relationship mirror.

2. Show Up

You can’t genuinely connect with people by playing ping-pong inside your head. It takes some actual practice on the field. Tie your laces and go!
If you lean more on the extrovert side of the spectrum, set a goal of meeting up with 2 people for coffee a week (this is also a great career-hunting strategy
as well). If you’re more introverted, queue up your favorite social network or open your email and dig in.
As you begin connecting with more and more people, developing these relationships will become more and more natural. That’s a good thing! It means you’re growing.

, participants have been challenged to connect with PSA's who could help them on their current goals. Some have set up coffee meetings here in Chile, others have reached out to professionals in their desired field.
For many, it has been an uncomfortable challenge. What if they get rejected? How do they find the right people to talk to? But that’s the point – to push past the uncertainty and simply take action.

3. Play To Your Strengths

There’s a common misconception that in order to be successful you must be an extrovert, which is absolutely not the case. 
Where you fall on the spectrum does not matter. What matters is that you know how you operate and play to your strengths.
If you’re an extrovert, be extroverted! If you’re an introvert, genuinely connect through other introverted means.
This doesn’t mean you should never try to work on your weaknesses
, but focus on utilizing the strengths you already have.
We’re all playing the same game.

4. Add Value Without Expectations

So many people operate their every day lives by seeking ways in which the world can give them something. But the people that really understand the world of relationships know the goal should be reversed.
Instead of seeking ways to add value for yourself, openly seek ways to add value for others. The more value you add to others around you the more value you’ll receive in return
Adding value obviously takes effort. That’s the point! If you’re one of the few able to consistently help those around you, you’ll stand out as someone who is trustworthy andworthy of assistance in the future.
Drop the you-scratch-my-back-and-I’ll-scratch-yours-mentality. Focus on looking for ways to add value
 instead. Do it with zero expectations and everyone wins
.5. Create A Value System

 humans only have the capacity to hold 150 meaningful relationships
 at any given time. 
As your network grows, it’s important you do everything you can to keep your connections alive and fresh.
This is a personal call here. Do what you’re comfortable with. Don’t be sleazy or inauthentic. There’s certainly a noticeable difference between checking in because you need something and really being interested in their well being. Don’t be that guy that does only the former

.6. Have Random Conversations

Some of my best personal and professional relationships began from a random chat or chance meeting. You never know how any one relationship will develop.
This doesn’t mean to be wasteful with your time; just leave space open for the unexpected.

7. Become A Connector

One of the benefits of being a great sponsor is that it opens doors for you to be able to connect other people. In the last week alone, I’ve connected three different parties simply by retweeting people who were looking for help.
The more people you know, the more people you can help. When listening to people’s struggles and issues always be thinking of when an intro to a friend would be a great fit.
As you connect more and more people you’ll quickly become the go-to resource for people in your marketing looking to change the world. If you’re a connector, you’re indispensable.

8. Fail
The entrepreneur was a man.
You’re going to say the wrong things. You’re going to get rejected. Some of the connections you put effort into won’t pan out. Some coffee meetings will be awkward. You might not get a response to the email you spent an two hours writing.
The only way to get better with people is by making mistakes.
Keep growing. Be human
.9. Ask Great Questions

Most of the amazing affiliates  I know have the uncanny ability to ask great questions.
The questions they ask motivate you; they get you unstuck. The questions they ask add value to you.
Great networkers don’t waste people’s time asking lazy and uninspired questions. They do the work and their questions show it.
If you’re asking for mentorship, don’t ask something that can be Googled. If you’re trying to help someone with a problem, dig deep.
The quality of questions you ask is directly correlated with the size of your success

Most people reading this will nod their head in agreement.
The truth is, I want YOU to be different. I want you to develop the skills and produce the value needed to stand out. The world needs more leaders.

Shyness should not be too much of a problem since you can communicate via internet (email, facebook, twitter, etc.) without having face to face meetings with "strangers". Once you are better acquainted, consider Skype or similar system for f-to-f without it actually being physically done.

Internet savvy (which I am not too good at myself) can become a reality by using the Internet Income course as your guide.

Otherwise, use local advertising: put flyers in any lunchbreak rooms you can; post them and business cards (don't forget keycodes on all of these methods) on bulletin boards in grocery stores, under windshield wiper blades in parking lots; work breakrooms; eateries around colleges...

Search askSC for more suggestions on where to place this kind of cold advertising.

The advantages?... No face to face, not much more expense than buying (or making) your supplies, and some of your time. Economize your time by always having flyers and cards with you so you can put them out on same trip as you do your errands.

The very best method: learn how to go out of your comfort zone. Everyday do something you're not comfortable doing. Some difficult things are easier than others. Start there and slowly do more.

For starters if you're not internet savvy? Talk to people off line, use your hobby to earn money? why not become an ECA and add increase your internet income. Go to Farmers Markets, craft fairs. Get creative with how you share your business, but don't play with the words. Giving people the wrong impression whether it's intentional or not angers others, turns people off and away. We want to draw customers to our business and keep them. Do whatever it takes. Talking to them is the first step.

It doesn't matter what kind of internet business you're in: it requires communication. Communicating via internet can be much easier online because it's not face to face. Communication can be anything in the line of Skype, instant messaging, text, email, social media and the list goes on, but the most important part is communication. It's not how you do it. It's that you get it done!

Being shy is something you won't be by the time you're done, and I hope you'll never say you're done learning! ;)

Successful human interactions are based of openness and ability to communicate.

The issue of lack of internet skills seems to be popular today.

But both shortcomings (shyness and not being internet savvy) can be overcome.

My advice is to tackle them in two steps.

For now, an affiliate who is confronted with these two handicaps should focus on their warm market: talking to people they know well. That is relatively easy to do, and it may bring an initial success that will get the affiliate bolder in talking to people.

Developing internet skills is the next goal. Many public libraries in the US offer free basic computer and internet skills. The affiliate will be well advised to take advantage of such opportunities.

Overcoming shyness is also very much possible. There is a large segment of self help books addressing this questions. These books are also available in most public libraries around the world. It is a very popular topic.

While the affiliate is working on these self development areas, they can still grow their business.

SFI Provides us all the training we need when it comes to advertising, and the internet. I can imagine that no matter how shy you are this may not be true with close friends and family so for them all you need to do is tell them you joined an affiliate marketing program and that you are trying it out for free and that they too should try it out because all training is free and if they don't like it they can always opt out and all you need to do is give them your SFI gateway. Do you really need internet savvy here? No.

So the point is that your are provided with methods that do not require internet savvy because these are the beginner methods some are 100% free and can be done in minutes. If you are too shy to talk then you can use your cellphone to send a text ad as a text message and ad your gateway.

Once you master the beginner methods then you should start looking at the internet income lessons that are in the training section on the black menu bar of the affiliate center. You can also go to the library or bookstores where you can get books to learn about the internet. You can also visit YouTube and iahabe.org for tutorials about the internet.

In simpler terms start with the beginner methods to help overcome shyness and at the same time go over the internet income lessons and look at SFI tutorial videos on youtube to learn about internet advertising.

One way to overcome shyness is to do Christmas shopping or shopping for other special occasion gifts to friends and family and then attach a greeting card with a TC gift card and SFI promo card inside to the gift. You can also add a gift card with a letter giving instructions on how to redeem the gift card when you go to a restaurant and pay the bill to the waiter as an addition to the tip.

So the purpose of advertising is to develop confidence overtime and before you know it you will be very internet savvy. ????

Education is they key..

I didn't have any internet marketing skills when I first started and I was definitely too shy to talk about a business I knew little about. Your secret to this business is to log in daily, vote on as many ASK SC questions ad possible and visit the SFI forum on regular basis.

When you start gaining experience in this business, your knowledge and self confidence starts to grow to a level that in time will eliminate all these fears you may have when you first start here and are learning on how best to improve your self status. I can guarantee you!

"Knowledge is power" and "Leader are readers". This didn't make much sense to me at first but in time by sticking to my goals and focusing on my daily targets, I had gained enough experience and know-how that today I am a different person in my mind and also by my actions I take.
