I think a blog on Sfi Would be greater for promoting sfi.
It's easier to maintain, faster to add new content, easier to place links, banners, etc,..
If you are tired of your websites theme, it's easy to change it, just with the click of a button, you have more tools and plugins, like for instance seo tools, social media sharing tools, sitemaps, easy links, link cloakers, and so on.

I do advise though when you choose a blog, to go for the wordpress platform.
It's easy to use, and offers a ton of plugins to boost your site. + you have thousends of themes to choose from and are customizable to your likings.

All you need is webhosting and a domain name, just like with a regular site. The easy part on this one is that most webhosts have wordpress within their cpanel, so you can install it within seconds.

This is an excellent question and so I would encourage you to consider the following question in return:

What are you able to manage on a regular basis?

The above question simply is seeking out from yourself what you know how to do and how much time you have to devote to a blog and/or website.

Both may be used to advertise SFI but the effectiveness of them will depend on you or whom ever you may hire to not only create but maintain these on-line services.

Blog or website - you will have to review your own level of commitment and review what technology you have that may assist you with maintaining these on a regular basis.

It is often written through articles about either one (website or blog) that content needs to be maintained and timely. If the material on the web-site or blog are dated and not changing people will not come back nor will they share with others to read your blog - ultimately will become digital clutter on the internet.

So what can you do - can you manage both or just one? If only one, which one - either one will be a good tool to advertise about your SFI business but with any tool you have to be honest with yourself to consider what you can and know how to do.

I think this is one of those questions one could argue over for hours, but in my opinion I think it is actually both, as one will always compliment the other. If you have a website and a blog, and ensure they have several links to each other, not only will Google love you and increase your search ranking, so will your customers, as they will see you are passionate about your business. I presently have both, and it is a fantastic way to attract and retain potential customers, as they see me as a committed and dedicated SFI member,and one that would be a good mentor due to this. You can write about SFI in your Blog and then have links to your web site (which doesn't have to be your own website, SFI have a very good one for affiliates available also), linking your web sites is a valuable tool, the more information you can provide can be the deciding factor to someone who is a little undecided. And of course the reverse also applies, you should show links to your Blog on your website, this shows professionalism and will also assist in gaining new members.

So the answer to your question, for me anyway, is not one or the other, but both. More is better!!

You can use a free platform, like blogger, but I’d say get your own hosted blog then you own the thing and no one can take it away. Google owns Blogger, they’re the big cheese and can remove your blog if they don’t like something you do.

I think that is actually a decision you need to make, because only you know what you want.

Why?

If you want just to say to people what is SFI and where to join use blog, it is optimized by google and gives fine results, also you can share it on other social networks. It is free to use, that is a plus.
But if you want to make something more complex and more attractive than use website. With website you can make all kind of pages, subpages, different content, or even make a fine blog spot just for your potential members where you can post tips or make a subscribe form to collect mails and than do more personal advertising.

If you want maximum form visitors to sign up, by my opinion, you should have website which will be more optimized and user friendly for viewers/visitors.
This is just my opinion, also i suggest you to try both and see what gives better results.

The attraction of keyword needed to allow the guy to click and look into it no matter upon curiosity or seriously to be involved.

If you want more people to read or viewed through the search engine website, you need to insert good meta keyword (common search keyword by people) so that it will shown and link to your hosted website or blog.

Blog is free, hosted website need to pay to advertise unless above done with proper SEO style. But I believed the numbers of viewers are even at last.
