SFI's system is unique and very successful if followed to a T but there are things you can learn to augment what you learn with SFI.
A great example would be niche marketing which is touched on in George Little's Internet Income Course under your training tab. Niche marketing and Niche Keyword research are a vast topic that no one site can explore all thoughts on. I pay $359 a year for a site that teaches me niche blogging and despite having 12 years as a niche blogger and having made thousands of dollars using blogs for marketing I am learning a ton from that service I didn't know.
Likewise you might need to focus on Adword Advanced tactics or study and implement a course on list building and e-zine writing or article marketing. I know you can definitely expand on what is taught in regards to social media marketing as each network is different and the tips on SFI are general and need fine tuned.
You need to focus on the core of the training but never stop expanding your understanding on each element taught at SFI. I personally like my blog training system because I am learning to write amazing reviews that will help promote TripleClicks items and grow my income by allowing me to generate more funds I can use for advertising and tools.
Don't ever limit yourself to learning a book when you have a library at your fingertips.
