Here is my opinion, it may be different for other Team Leaders.
I prefer using SFI's PSA MAILER - it provides you Actionpoints, as well as a safety net : you don't overstep boundaries.
The new PSA are left with the choice whether to communicate personally or within SFI.
Many new affiliates are overwhelmed at beginning and you as Team Leader want to determine which affiliate is Eager and Serious to succeed. The ones who reply through personal mail, I found to be serious achievers.
Personal mail may be reported as Spam if you bombard a new affiliate.
Once a Affiliate replies to your PSA Mailer, you can ask him/her if they prefer PSA Mail or rather a more personal mail via direct email.
