An autoresponder should not be used on your own personal website, because it is very impersonal. This is a family home base business that should make you want to become more personal with the individuals that you are trying to contact. If you are having a problem with being flooded with email and such, maybe you should get a group mailer.

I feel that the answer to this is very simple. Don't do it unless it is absolutely necessary. An autoresponder can never take the place of a personal email, as an email written by yourself, as opposed to an autoresponder, always shows a personal touch and all affiliates always respond to the personal touch better.

I believe the most important information that you could tell a potential PSA would be the options that we have to be successful with SFI. Also, I would point out how easy it is to work with SFI at you can truly do it working from home. And you don't have to spend any money to do so. Yes, it will take longer but you don't have to spend money like other programs.

As much as autoresponders make sending replies quite easy, my problem with it is that it is too impersonal. Form a closer bond with your affiliates by attending to them personally, composing a reply that suits each individual's need. The PSA Mailer, CSA Mailer would also come in handy.

Personally, I am a trader and the only autoresponder I use on my site and to have received the request and that the customer will be contacted as soon as possible.
Strongly discourage other automatic responses, the customer would not appreciate.

You should be very careful with auto-responders because, there are many reasons not to use them. However, there are some useful reasons to use them, when appropiately. I will list first some pros and cons, and also how to avoid the CONS...pun intended.

If someone visits your website, they may not wish to receive an email from the webmaster of the website. They may not even remember visiting you, either. They may report this auto-response email as spam.

To help prevent this from happening, instead put a form at your website for visitors to opt-in to receive a FREE newsletter. Also, let them know they will need to confirm their email address exists by sending you an email to "[email protected]" For example. Put your real email address there.
Then, if you ever get contacted about spamming you may show the email from the subscriber that says they have agreed to get the newsletter, or autoresponder messages from you.

Also, be sure at the end of every follow-up-email leave a great way to opt-out of receiving future emails just in case they changed their mind.

Another bad thing about auto-responders is they are not personalized. They do not encourage interactions. They do not tell you who read them, or if you are wasting your time. Many of these messages go right to the person's spam folder.

Here are some suggestions: Do not use these words anywhere or they will likely end up in the spam box, and readers will not even get them:

FREE, $ $ $, multiple of these, too !!!!!, puting links to email addresses more than once, make money, MLM, and others. The best advice is to make your contact sound more like talking to a person face-to-face, as a friend, and avoid the sales pitch. It turns people off, and makes them want to filter it to spam, and once they flag it as spam, you may find all that you are sending going to the spam.

Another bad thing about an auto-responder is after they leave your website, if feels like they are being followed by you, or tracked. It makes them feel like the shopper that just went to the supermarket and purchased an impulse buying item, and now the store keeps contacting them for repeat business, and knows where they live, knows their phone number, knows everything about them, and has just invaded their privacy to the point they are more likely to return that item and never go back...it is the same feeling for visiting your website. When they leave their store, or a website, they do NOT wish to be followed home, or contacted by you, unless they ask you to do so.

My advice, don't track people with tracking devices, and follow them around, do not send email unless asked for it, offer a way out in case they change their minds, they can get the feeling their privacy is invaded and will ignore your website, and even ignore you.

But, if you wish to do an auto-responder, after they opted in to receive emails: The first email should be a "Thank you for visiting my website, you are welcome to return. Please, let me know if you found everything you were looking for, and what I may do to make your next visit better". Make the newsletter filled with things that invoke response, such as here is a customer satisfaction survey, for helping fill it out, you are entered into a contest to receive a "Free SFI Gift Card." The results will be published at the website, and this survey ends this date and time. This encourages a repeat visit at the website.

Next newsletter should also advertise the contest winners. And make it interactive, and encourage comments, questions and answers. Do not make it sound like they are just another person on a list to receive emails with sales-pitches. Your purpose is to find out their goals, and offer them helpful advice how SFI can help them get there.

Make these letters encourage them to contact you to answer these interactive newsletters. Always include open-ended-questions and provide your contact information.

There are also many free website templates to make your newsletters colorful. Make them look just as good as your website with interactive tools to catch the reader's eyes and make them want more.

Instead of putting weblinks, put a button to get to your website. It well less likely end up in the spam folder, too.

For really good newsletter examples of things you want your auto-reply letters to look like, try subscribing to some free newsletters, and learning what they are doing that you may wish to try that may make you go to their website. Some examples of successful newsletters are from companies such as Wal-Marts, KMarts, Dollar General, SuperMarkets, and other ones. Look at their sales ads, they may even have a pretty newsletter sign-up website that you may get great ideas from.

Offer a wish-list, and also public-gift-registry. This will encourage others to buy that favorite gift at your TripleClick website.

You may even include buttons to some of the items in the ECA Stores online. You will receive a percentage of the sale to other's items, as well as for sharing some of your own items you may offer for sale.

You may even offer a frequent shopper program, or a free with purchase of this item in one of your newsletters. For every order of at least $30 buyer gets one FREE Gift Card and send this to them. Also, use the word FREE as little as possible to avoid the spam folder. I always space the words out F R E E so the spam filter does not recognise it and emails are email AT SFI DOT Com or on a button hidden.

Another bad thing about auto-responders is no matter how well you write them, you never know if they are in the spam folder, or if they are being ignored, or if the visitor has their email that they forgot about, and will never see them.

Make your emails as interactive as possible, and learn by experimenting with other companie's auto-responder's newsletters. Check your spam folder, regularly, and be sure if the other company's email was sent to your spam folder, avoid using their templates. Open them up and try to see why it went to your spam folder, and do not do the same thing they did.

You may want to send your email first to yourself, and be sure it does not go to your spam folder. Then you will need to fix it, before you send it back out. Do not send it to others until it makes it to your inbox.

Also, before you send out the final email, spell check it, and be sure it is free of errors. People judge your business by your words. If you do not sound or write professionally, people will not want to continue reading what you send.

If you watch some of our comedians on television, some of them are using the ads that people write to write their comedy scripts about. These make people laugh. I am sure this is not your intention. However, make sure these are free from errors. You do not want your mistake being laughed at.

I hope all this advice will help. I personally do not use auto-responders. They make your visitors feel like they are being tracked, and followed, and like their privacy has been invaded...and some will even feel offended that your website is set up to obtain some of their personal information, information they may not have wanted you to know about them. Please, instead request their information, and be sure to seek their permission, and only let them share with you what they wish for you to know. Use online surveys, and other interactive tools. Bring them back with contests, wishlists, gift registries, and other things. When they enter then you may remind them who won contests, offer them gift cards to obtain some of the items on their wishlist, etc. It is less scary to a visitor than being followed and tracked by your auto-responder, or email robot, and often annoys some people.

But, if done properly, it may also be a great tool, with permission, first.

This question can be hit or miss depending on perspectives.

An Autoresponder is a great tool for bringing in opt-ins to the next level more so for product based purchases, matrixes, MLMs etc. where you know that constant hammering and presenting over longer durations which will eventually get a buyer who was not sure if they want to buy in to the next level if they see it enough times.

Is that the type of person you want to be in your front line. Likely not.

However, if you target your traffic well and you set a second specific squeeze page that targets the traits of good hungry buyer with a powerful SFI headline approved by SFI of course which sends them to your gateway page after they opt in, your follow-up emails will icing on the cake, if even needed.

Targeted traffic can be easily converted through an autoresponder typically with 2-3 follow ups max, as they are already hungry buyers in your market and why they opted in to your page. If the sales page or gateway page does not make the sale, the follow up should focus on these three key points with each point being a separate letter. If you don't get them to sign up by these points, its likely you don't want them anyway and they won't join anyway.

Letter 1 - FREE to join how and proven - discuss this in few sentences
Letter 2 - FREE training and resources to learn everything to be successful
Letter 3 - The 3 Simple Steps to Full Time Income - Discuss the system but not get rich

If that follow-up sequence is presented to a target hungry buyer already emotionally wound up, your conversions could be very impressive. This would be the likely best method of using an autoresponder effectively for this offering.

Typically, autoresponders are not effective for SFI unless targeted as its aimed for a crowd not likely to possess the qualities that will be effective downline affiliate for you. However, if presented to the right buyer it can be very effective.

1)Creating your hook-------------------------------

Starting with the most important part of list building, giving some away in return for their email address. Creating a hook is easy, all you have to do is produce a product that you could sell but instead you give it away. Most people say this is important to get more people to sign up, it definitely does increase conversions by a lot but it also has an even powerful-er part to it, it can make you a lot of money. In fact my first 6 figures made online was through a FREE report I gave away on one of my blogs.

Let’s say you have a web design blog, you could created a report called “17 Ways To Make More Money As a Web Designer“. In this report you teach visitors these ways, some things include them buying something that of course will genuinely help them but also make you money as an affiliate. So for example, one tip is to get business cards created and you suggest their buy them through Vista Print which of course is an affiliate link. Another suggestion could be they should become hosting resellers for their clients and then they buy a reseller account via your affiliate link. All your content needs to help them and of course make you money. If you are new to affiliate marketing.

Hopefully now you have some sort of idea of what FREE report you want to create, it doesn’t have to be a really long thing, it just needs to help website visitors in some way so that they want to buy something in the report and stay subscribed for more content. Some bloggers deliver their report in a PDF format which is automatically sent to new subscribers via your email marketing solution and some bloggers fine it easier just to deliver the report in one long email, which is what I do.

2)Setting up your E-mail Opt-in Box&funnel-----------------------------

I hate to rely on one company, using multiple company’s is just good business sense. What these company’s do is allow you to collect email addresses, send and track emails, plus a lot more techy stuff that the typical person doesn’t really need.

Using any email provider, you will have the option to send a visitor to a page, you can either use their default thank you page but I like to do is create a new page in WordPress and thank new subscribers for opting in and to let them know that their free gift will be emailed to them straight away. As this is the point where their most interested in your subject, I also suggest several affiliate products related to my free gift which they may be interested in.

3)Have a Page Dedicated To Your Free Gift & Signing Up---------------------------

The thing I see over and over again is people really enjoying the free gifts they get from signing up to a newsletter – so you must make it easy for them to share the source of this free gift (report, tip sheet etc) where their friends, customers and even family. Simply having a sidebar opt-in isn’t enough. You want to give your subscribers a link to a page detailing your offer, which they can pass on to friends, family etc.Something else I recommend is using OptimizePress – this allows you to create squeeze pages which have converted higher then 50% which means if you can send 1000 visitors to your squeeze page, over 500 will opt-in.

I use OptimizePress for my squeeze pages and it only took around 5 minutes, saving me at least $500 and a whole bunch of time. They have 10 different pages to choose from, depending if you want to show a video on your squeeze page, show a preview of one, a free report with an eCover – frankly they cover everything!

4)Using a Lightbox Opt-in Popup-------------------------

When you visit IncomeDiary you would of seen my popup which was produced using my WordPress plugin called Popup Domination. I knew lightbox’s like this worked but the ones Aweber provide had some flaws, firstly poor design, I’m not going to spend all my time and money on the perfect blog does just to devalue it with a free lightbox design. As well as that, it was missing a lot of the options I required such as setting how soon the popup showed up, how often, what pages, customizing the design and so on. Using Popup Domination I was able to go from around 15 opt-ins a day to over 50 a day almost immediately, which really helped me take off with my online marketing. Here are a couple Popup Domination settings I think work really well:

Shown every 14 days, on the second impression and not on the homepage. This means when they visit the site, the popup doesn’t show up on the first page they visit, if they enjoy your site and further navigate to a second page, this is when they are shown the popup. These settings work very well for those who are worried about upsetting regular visitors. Additionally you may want to consider having the sign up link open up in a new window so that the visitor stays on your page.
Shown in one particular category on the first impression and target the traffic that visits the posts in that category, for example if the category on your website is about six pack abs, provide a free gift on getting six pack abs. This is for those who want to build a super targeted email list.
We have also seen that people using Popup Domination using a theme which you can use an eCover have converted a lot higher then those without so I highly recommend you invest just a small amount of money in an eCover design related to your free gift.

5)Making Money From Your Email List-----------------------

Most people reading this who want to monetize their email list will probably want to do it by promoting affiliate products. It is seriously easy money, can you imagine just sending a email to your, taking you what, 5 minutes and in return you make thousands of dollars. We are so lucky with the opportunity we have today, we just have to make sure we take advantage of it while we can. When emailing promotions, you have three main ways to go do it:

Directly email your list a link to the sales page
Email your list a review on your blog
Email your list a link to a bonus page on your site where you take them through the product and offer them a bonus if they buy through your link.
Depending on the product, you will want to do different things. I prefer to email my list a link to a review on my site, this brings them back to my site, gives me a better chance at selling it as well as a better chance of them looking else where on my blog and buying something. If the product is a high price, try the bonus page, this has definitely increased my conversions. Directly emailing your list the link to the sales page is the easiest solution, it doesn’t convert as well but it literally takes 2 minutes to do. I have to admit, I feel bad emailing a link directly to the sales page because it makes me look like I don’t care, I prefer to put in more effort and in return I make a lot more.

6)Increasing Earnings and Email Open Rate-------------------------

The most exciting feature for me is being able to send another email to the same list that I emailed the day before, but this time it only sends to the people who didn’t open the email the day before. I simply keep the email the same but change the title in case the other one wasn’t enticing enough for them. Figures don’t lie, let me show you how it performed:

The first email sent out got: 33.8% open rate getting 523 clicks to my website.

The second email which went to only the unopened emails got: 16.1% open rate and an additional 156 clicks to my website.

In my opinion, autoresponders may not be a good idea for follow-up emails. It may prove to be useful for first-time inquiries. I think it would be better not to apply the "one size fits all" approach here. We must cater to different needs, that is, questions from different potential affiliates. We must have our responses "tailor made" to suite everyone, something that a autoresponder may not be able to provide.
