One way to communicate to your Downlines through SFIM (Instant Messaging) is to do it through Genealogy.

You can filter to see who is online. Then click on the yellow messaging icon at the right of the row of the member you wish to communicate with.

If they are not online and you still want to communicate with them, you can still click on the messaging icon and drop them a message.
Otherwise you can either do it through team mail or their personal mail.

If you want to communicate with your Upline, click on the Support drop down list in your homepage and click on your sponsor or upline.
You will see all your uplines possibly up to six or more levels up.
Contact them through here if you wish.

SFIM acts as a great tool for communication between the affiliates and their sponsor or even Co-Sponsor. A new affiliate at SFI needs a spark to start and using SFIM, that spark can be provided to the affiliate by the affiliate's sponsor, and this is where SFIM is of great help. SFI also notifies you in the New PSA Notification that if the message has arrived just now you can click to chat.
New Affiliates can get help from their sponsor and sponsor gets a chance to interact with his or her PSA or CSA. Using SFIM a second source of communication can also be provided, where chatting can be done more smoothly.
SFIM works when your affiliates are coming from an advertising source. A source, where you don't really know them personally and a previous contact has not been made.

*The various ways in which I use SFIM are-
*Maintaining contacts with my PSAs and CSAs.
*Providing support to confused affiliates.
*Notifying affiliates about their E365 status and telling them how they can score more Versapoints.
*Discussing the latest SFI News with them and telling them, how they get advantage or opt to the change.
*Recharging affiliates who have logged in after a long-long time.
*Providing them with contact for any other source of contact which is not visible on my leadership page but, still is a better or more advantageous source to contact. eg. Social Networks like Facebook and Twitter.
*Giving links to my affiliates to various SFI pages, which can help them start or move.
**FINAL TIP- Try to spend most of the time at the affiliate center and try to keep refreshing your Genealogy, so that online affiliates can be seen, and you can establish contact with them using SFIM and they also can approach you, once they see you online.

i think it's very important to contact with you affiliates directly,that way you can find out if they have a problem and you can help them solve it...

PSA and CSA mailers are good tools but direct chat is more efficient...

instant messaging,in my opinion,is more friendly and give that feeling you're talking to someone real,not just send out some regular tips...

i beilive in that way,your affiliate would be sure that you are realy care for them and want them to be succesful...

Great question!

The SFIM is SFI's own Instant Messaging, which can be likened to those provide by yahoo, Google and even Facebook. The IM provided by SFI is not very popular here because most affiliates are in always in a hurry to get things done and hence forget about using this great and important tool.

When we recruit a new PSA for instance, SFI sends a message like this to us. ''...If this notification has just arrived, it means that xxxxxx is probably currently online at the SFI Affiliate Center and you should initiate a live chat immediately to welcome this person to SFI and help your new affiliate get started. To do so, just go to the following link. If they're online now, just click on the YELLOW BUBBLE that will appear below their photo to start a chat.''

The ''yellow bubble'' that the above excerpt refers to is the SFIM. Whenever any of your team members are online, the chat comes up beside their name.

To use the SFIM, you just have to click on the yellow bubble when it comes up meaning that your team member is online. A form pops out where you can type and send a message. It is a very easy to use but important tool.

My best tips for using the SFI instant messages are:

1.Always click on it to welcome a new PSA especially when they first signed up.
Bonding starts immediately when the PSA responds and you start chatting. You find
that the PSA will get a head start. This one of the best ways to make an affiliate
to start work immediately.

2.For you to use this tool effectively, you must always be at the SFI site. This is
not a problem to me because I spend a lot of hours at the site day in, day out.
Infact, SFI is now like my Facebook.

3.Another tip to use this tool effectively is that you must frequently check your
genealogy to see if any of your team mates is online and immediately initiate a
conversation.

4.You should also watch out for your sponsors presence online which is indicated when
the yellow bubble comes up beside his name at the top right of your homepage.

5.Encourage your team members to use the tool by making them aware of the SFIM in
some of your stream messages.

6.Don’t get discourage if you do not get replies immediately. I have had some of my
affiliate respond days after I sent my SFIM chats.

The SFIM is one tool which a lot of affiliates are not utilizing to communicate with their team. I dare say that the SFIM is more effective than the team mail and i say this out of personal experience.

Instant Messaging is one method of communicating to your team. You can send short messages, like greetings for new affiliates, simple tips and advice, recommendation, acknowledgement and inspirational and motivating thoughts.

Live chat is one of the most amazing tool to interact. Think of Skype, or any other video chat.....You know why they are so effective in Marketing Businesses......????? The simple answer is its live...... SFIIM also being the only live option to communicate in SFI is very useful in building your business at SFI....So let us see when you should use it......

1. When ever anyone joins SFI, may be for a minute he becomes online......Just start a chat with him. When he will see some one real answering his question and talking live to him.....He may ask his doubts and have a great chance to comeback again.

2. Few affiliates work for few days and then disappear for some days....They may have some personal problem or may be casual.....When these affiliates sign back, write a IM immediately.

3. When ever there is a new and exciting declaration in SFI like recent Training auction or Bronze bonus, you can use your IM to inform your active affiliates......This really works nicely....

You can still think of few more ways to use it but i do the above 3 at the moment....

To be honest, I haven't used the SFI messenger very much. When I first started about a month ago, I tried messaging my sponsor, a few of my PSAs, and my co-sponsor, but no one answered back!

Then a few weeks ago, I got a whole bunch of messages at once, and realized that the system had malfunctioned. It seems to be working now, though. :)

I think it is a great way to communicate with your upline when you need help. If you see that they're online, it's nice to be able to chat and ask questions. It would be really nice if there was an option to have the chat emailed to yourself (and/or the other person), though. If you exchange important information, it will get lost if you don't copy/paste it.

I also think it's a great tool to use to chat with my PSAs. It's nice to be able to congratulate them on a milestone or achievement "in person" - or at least in real time. It's also a good time for them to ask questions. Sometimes it's easier to ask "stupid" questions in a less formal situation. Of course, there are no stupid questions, but sometimes you feel like it because it's basic and you feel lost. :)

what i believe is the best way to utilize the SFI messaging system is if you can send daily messages to your affiliates. i believe that psas and csas should be treated as equals when it comes to recieving messages from you. you should be invested in the success of both psas and csas because they both contribute to the overalll success of the team. I believe the messages should be motivational and informative. if you are a team leader and you have more time you should include in these messages things that are neccessary so the team doesnt have to spend valuable time looking for information that you can pass on in daily or weekly messages, this way they can spend time doing the things that will be benificial to the team as a whole. i hope this helps

Instant Messaging is a great tool, but we have to understand its limitations.

I believe, Instant Messaging should be used when communicating with the most active and productive members of your team to have more dynamic conversations. For example, instructing someone step by step how to use features of SFI website, how to use genealogy tool, discussing strategies for Pricebenders auctions etc.

What is not a very good idea is when you see someone who has barely logged in really long time, just logging in and you see the yellow light to jump all over them. I think it is a bit scary for the new affiliate, they feel like someone is watching them and tries to control. It is better to wait till they contact you through Instant Messaging first, then you can respond.

Another point to remember that those conversations disappear once you close the window. So if you want to discuss something more technical you want to use Team Mail instead, because affiliates can come back later and reread the material.

I hope this is helpful, IM is a great tool to use in a proper circumstances.
