I have found that idf you show them a few things about your site, such as, where you are in the business and then talk to them about potential income and at least show them that since you have been in the business that you have accfomplished some things, this will raise their curiosity and get them to thinking about joining.
But I think the best way to motivate them to join to SFI, you must be an example to them, people want to see your successes in SFI that you can show to them, definitely they will prefer to be like you and join to SFI.
Thus I advice all the members want add more members in his/her team.. just participate fully to all activities in the SFI.
Have a Wave3 Banner on your car! Great conversation starter! You just need to outline simple benefits like that they can buy and sell stuff similar to craiglist. Then show it can be much more if they wish, it can become an international business. But keeping it simple and understandable is the key.
First, understand that motivation doesn't grow on trees. You're either willing or unwilling to be motivated. I learned this in my former years in the Marine Corps. You can explain SFI to a thousand people, each will have a different reason for either accepting or rejecting the opportunity. Motivation begins and ends from within a person. Know your friends (even family). Are they individuals desiring to change their present position in life, or are they individuals who are satisfied and disinterested in what you are offering to them? Usually, within the first couple of minutes these questions will be answered! Remember, it serves you not to waste time trying to motivate those unwilling to be motivated.

Show them that you have fun doing it and that you enjoy being associated with other people who want success in their lives.
Show them how long it takes you to go through your daily 'to do' list and show them the compensation plan afterwards so they can see how you earn while enjoying yourself. Share any success you have with them.
Don't try to convince them with words. Convince them with actions and success.

It is a great conversation piece. Also, I've learned the Wave 3 sticker on my back car window is a great conversation starter. When someone mentions a product that we sell on our site, then I begin there as well. You just have to start the conversation and you'll peak their interest.
There really isn't a set way to motivate friends and family. Those close to you want to see your success first before joining. Even when you start to succeed most of them will see it as "I have to hound my friends and family" and that is not what you want them to take from that. Let them be and when your success grows then they might come around. Remember it is not for everyone.
I don't try to get people I know signed up right away - create curiosity by talking about what your doing...let them hear your excited and when they show any interest-share SFI in person...sign them up!
