How can I use SFI's hit tracking to make my promotions more effective?

Many people do not know about the hit tracking tool. Newer members very often feel down and think nobody ever clicks on their ads when they don't get new PSAs immediately. So, from the beginning I inform my PSAs about this tool. When they see that they have traffic with their links they feel much more motivated to promote even more.

SFI Hit Tracking is very useful when combined with the Key Code Tracking. The two are complementary to get the best analysis of how your promotion and advertising works online and in other sites.

First, let me introduce the Key Code tracking. Using your Gateway links to post to other sites, add .(0-9999) number after your SFI ID.

For example:
Your Key Code tracking number for Facebook is 111
You assigned 222 for Twitter
Then you added 333 to Google Plus

This question needs some background because I guess many affiliates are not using SFI's hit tracking. So, let me start with that.

SFI has a mechanism to track the number of hits (clicks) of each advertisement you have on the Internet. Therefore it is important that when you advertise on free of paid ads to put a key code in your link. You should also take note the Website where you put your ads.

I made a spreadsheet with the name of the resource in the first column, the key code number I have assigned to it: in the second column, and then several empty boxes after that to keep track of the daily or weekly tally.

Then, I copied that spreadsheet onto a new page, renumbering the resources for TripleClicks ads. That way, I can place multiple ads in each resource for Affiliates and products, keeping a separate tally for each. This is a real time saver.

When you apply the hit tracking right, not only will your promotions be more effective, but you'll also be wasting less time on what does not produce any results.

Everybody says you'll be able to see the number of hits to your individual promotion sites/Gateways. This knowledge, however, means nothing if you can't see whether those hits produce any results. When you use the Hit Tracking section of SFI, you should write your results in a text document or create an excel file that allows you to understand which of your promotions/adverts are getting the most hits and the most return.

With the hit tracking, you should also use the Key Code section and you can determine which of your gateways is bringing better results and more hits.

Make a list of the tracking codes you put with your Gateways, i.e.:

1xxxxxxx.1 - on your blog
1xxxxxxx.2 - is on paid advertising
1xxxxxxx.3 - is on a free advertising site
1xxxxxxx.4 - would be on your Facebook
and so on....

Now the idea here is to monitor the hits you are getting on whichever key code you used. You could be getting hundreds of hits on your key code 4 but you aren't getting any sign ups, whereas in key code 2 you are getting fewer hits

If you place many ads, KEY Code tracking is ESSENTIAL! I just finished a campaign where I placed 3 different ads in EVERY STATE of the US. I used the following system:

3101 for a TripleClicks ad in Alabama; 4101 for an SFI sponsoring ad for my own co-op; and 5101 for a group co-op I belong to.

Then I used 3102, 4102, and 5102 for Alaska, 3103, 4103,and 5103 for the next state and so until I finished all of the states.

Keycoding is a marketing strategy from way back. In the early days when people where busy with mail order they'd use a department number so they knew which ads were pulling the greatest orders or leads. This is the same way key codes with SFI work. You tack a number onto your ID in your links. For example: http://www.sfi4.com/XXXXXXXX.12

You are a wise marketer by asking this question. You will succeed because of implementing this often neglected BUT very fundamental step and plan in advertising.
Failure to track your advertising is not only a VERY unwise ad strategy but a sure recipe for failure online.
