William you basically have 2 options available to you, creating a web site for FREE or pay someone to create one for you. My suggestion is that when you are first starting out you should take the first option, create one for free, and there are several programs on the internet that will allow you to do that. A couple of years ago I created my personal website using Weebly, and this site still serves me well, despite it costing me absolutely nothing. The only real difference to using a free web site creator like Weebly is that if you don't upgrade then you must leave 'weebly' in the web address.

Weebly is an easy to use system that any novice can use, and it is actually quite fun playing around and creating your own site. You have total control over it's layout and content, and you can change anything at any time very easily. You can add as many pages as you want, include a blog and a contact page, just the same as a paid web site, so I see this as a very good option for SFI newbies.

I have other sites with Weebly that I created, but I paid a little extra to have the 'weebly' removed from the web address, the only reason I did that is to make those sites look a little more professional, which it does. But at the end of the day your web address is just that, it is only an address, and you can actually cloak that to a shorter address using a program like 'Tiny URL' or similar, so you don't even see the 'weebly' anywhere.

If I can give you a couple of very important tips when creating your own site:
1. Keep your site fresh with all the latest SFI updates
2. Keep your site visually appealing but easy to navigate around.

I see lots of answers telling you to create a website about SFI with the same details the SFI website has on it, and aim to brand SFI with it.

That's one way to go if you want to limit your business to people who are looking for more information about SFI but have not already joined under the affiliate that first showed them SFI. Fact is 99% of the people who search SFI Affiliates, Strong Future International, How to promote SFI, are all current affiliates looking for additional training and they will eat up the training you put out and use it to compete with you.

That's the facts of how search engine marketing works, and home business competition.

On the other hand the people looking for home business in general are not searching for specific programs, they are looking for things like, " How to start a business online" and "What type of Home Business is Best" and these are people you can mold through education into future SFI affiliates.

For even more immediate results you can target those already looking at affiliate marketing or network marketing, not MLM by using search terms and post titles like "The best retail affiliate program" and "Network Marketing Companies Then and Now". This targets people in our two main industries which are 1, retail affiliate program, and 2 network marketing or team building of sellers not customers below you.

Your site should only briefly mention SFI if at all. Fact is Google is now penalizing sites for the SFI4 links and probably a few others because of so many spammers who have spoiled those links for honest affiliates. I had to take down my external promotions for SFI and switch to TripleClicks links and move SFI to my newsletter and free reports because the SFI4 URLs got my Google Adwords account suspended and my Adsense went from 80 cents a click to 4 cents to 50 cents a click as the site was throttled and no longer offered to the majority of advertisers.

If you make a site 100% about SFI you will spend more money and more time to promote it than if you promote a regular home business blog and add SFI to a free report for your newsletter.

The best way to create an effective personal webisite for SFI is to build your site with the goal in mind. Is your site for branding, ecommerce, information, lead generation, or entertainment? I highly recommend that you go to www.google.com/webmasters and use all of their free tools to seo your site. You can use the free google analytics tools to track how your site is performing and tweak elements as needed for improvements. Google has an exhaustive library of videos and tuturials to include forum community of webmasters. Anything you need to know about the web trust me Google know it!

Google is not the only option though. There are plenty of free services online that will assist you in building a good site. Just use Google again to search for free website builders and choose wisely as all free tools are not equal and some are better than others. I have numerous web properties and I use Google to build my web presence. For me, this is the best option.
