This question is specific because all upline affiliates are different. But, if your upline (let's say your sponsor) is pretty successful affiliate he knows how to motivate, support and guide you to the right path.

As a first and the most important thing is to have a communication with your upline.
You should ask and be interested in this business. You should have a potential and gain profit to your upline affiliates. They would take care of their profit and income. If you are successful

Every business has its own rules.
The rules of success are defined at the beginning of the SFI guidelines
(see Support-23 group responses and Training >>> Rules of Success).
It is essential to understand that this is not the SFI than for themselves.
It is good to ask those who have more experience but before that should
be read carefully everything that SFI made available.
And then comes the typical human: Oh, and who's going to read it all?
Of course

You need to show signs of life. Some affiliates never talk to their sponsors in any way. As a sponsor you are leading in the dark without any feedback from your team members.

Ask your sponsor or co-sponsor questions
Let them know you are in it to make money and that you will welcome their help and guidance. If you happen to have an absent sponsor or co-sponsor you can ask other upline members questions.

You are a sponsor yourself - why do you go the extra mile for your

You should show an interest for the job. You should be fully engaged in the work. Advertise and build your team. Ask for advice. Helps your down line. Your upline will help you. Be a role model to yours associates. Your upline will notice than you the effort and will always be with you.

The sponsor is the person whose eyes are always on the team members and specially on the new comers & those who are in need of their help. Do not think that they are not watching you even if your sponsor not communicate with you. He/She is just waiting and monitoring your step. just ask for help when you need it.
Then also, its your duty to send your sponsor a commitment message and tell him/her that how much you are serious about SFI and you want to grow with SFI.

Gaining maximum support from your up line will depend on his/her gained experience in SFI.
If he/she is relatively new with SFI then you can not expect support. On the other hand if your upline has been with SFI for a long period of time, there are two possible scenario.
-One if he/she is active, learned and have a good gained experience while doing the business he/she can guide you.
-But if not then again you can not expect any support from him/her.

Bottom line, you

For me as a co-sponsor i expect my downlines to log in daily even for an hour or two then do the tabs, read the articles that will help them progress in SFI, play the games to enjoy themselves while working, put in their standing order to move up in rank, bring in new affiliates but most of all rely on me for any questions that need to be answered. That's the basics!
