I must start with a business principle which states "The more risk you take the more profit you can earn".
If you want to get more benefits then you have to take a risk but if not there is still an option in SFI.
But I would say that Investing is more meaningful as SFI is the place where you are paid back for your investment, may be not in monetary form but in other forms like Versa Points and MRPs.

Here's what I think. The investment can get you a great boost in business and therefore quicker progress in SFI. It all depends on how much someone is willing to invest and in what.
But the main thing is that the biggest reason for investment to me is quicker progres and therefore quicker earning.
