My personal view is that promoting SFI to your "warm" market meaning your family and friends would be the better way. It is easier to teach someone by showing them exactly what to do.
With global marketing via the internet there are ways to make it more personal like using skype and making a video. Problem is not all your recruits have access to these media.
I would still use both methods because you never know when you strike it lucky and get that diamond.
The most important thing is to get a good understanding of your business so that you would know what to teach your recruits. If you have a good understanding it is very important to start your advertising campaign immediately. Remember you also have your upline for support of your recruits.

Locally motivated promotion will be more valuable and give you a more quality affiliate or business prospect however it is not easier than the strong leverage in the use of the Internet which has global reach (which includes your surrounding area).

However I would like to clarify some assumptions made in how your question is structured. Not all local promotion is necessarily personal and not every Internet promotion is global.

We can see this by the specific promotion on your Facebook social network where most of your friends are in your area. So the best of both worlds are had in that you will get a quality prospect with the necessary muscle of an online promotion.

Straight up online promotion is designed to be impersonal but easy by removing the physical effort to duplicate or explain your promotion to your prospect (reaching more people at a time). This must be followed up by personalizing your message by communication.

The best way to Promote SFI and TripleClicks is to simply do both as much as you can.
For example if someone personally mentions that they need to make more money, ask for their Email and send them an Email with an explanation of SFI etc. Then do follow ups.
If someone mentions personally that they would like to sell or buy goods online, send an email to them with Pricebenders, Tripleclicks gateway etc
Also get your adverts out there in classified ad sites, traffic exchanges, safelists etc.

The more eyes and ears that come across your gift of SFI and TripleClicks, the better.

Your aim is to SHOW as many people as possible.

NEVER bombard people verbally or digitally. Only give information if asked for it.

Really good question!
If we decide to promote TripleClick locally, providing opportunities for new contacts with people in our neighborhood.
This way in the less developed areas can promote sales through the Internet and break some bad opinions such as:
Delivery of bad products.
Stealing money from the account.
Non-delivery or delivery of something that we did not order.
In my country they say; You ordered pig in a poke.
Also, people may still not know that this way of selling works very well, we can get closer and offer products which still have not seen
or know that it even exists, rest in their country can not buy.
If you decide to promote through the internet, we have a vast number of people around the world who can be our customers.
This way we can use all the social network and a lot of other tools that we could well promote the products and services we offer, thus the significantly increased our earnings.
In my opinion both ways are good and offer a lot of possibilities.
The thing is each individual's personal opinion is the better way.

That's the question we all asked ourselves when we started working here.. and , as much as you think about it you still can not tell which one is better.
So, there is no need to divide it in that way. Promote EVERYWHERE! From talking to people you know to posting your ads in groups where are people from different countries! One can never know who will be interested. Maybe your best friend will not take it seriously, while someone 5000 miles away from you will be thrilled with your offer!
My advice is to use all ideas that come to your mind - just advertise and advertise! Everywhere and anyhow! Don't limit yourself in any way!

From my own point of view, both are to be use in the first place, doing a follow-up of both method to determine which of them is giving the promising prospect with let you know which of them to spend much time and investment on. From my experience, locally which is normally a conversation between you and the prospect has proved to provide an active prospect than the other one. The locally may provide a few PSA or PRM compare to the internet which can provide hundreds of inactive PSA or PRM. You can employ using both method but allocate your precious time to the one giving you a better result.
