First of all, I think that there are no words we should avoid if they correctly describe what you advertise. It all comes down to diferent advertisements attracting diferent people- what is reppelling for one person may be attractive for someone ellse. But that's not what you asked, is it?
When it comes to advertising SFI, what I would avouid would be phrases like "build your downline", "reffer people to join",or worse- "earn money by signing up your members" because in a short ad there is no way you can explain how much work it acctually takes to help someone train for this bussiness and become succesfull enough for a prospective to earn money. What we do with our downline is a real work and that's why we get paid, but there is no way you can put that in an ad and not make it sound shady...I would rather go with "train other workers" or "tutor other workers", or, as my sponsor did- "build your team".
If you are talking about TripleClicks sales then try to research the product and see who are previous buyers, what they have said about the product-what they liked about it, pay attention to their age and language they use, the way they speak. Avoid any words that You estimate wouldn't be recognized or effective by group of people that has already bought the product.
Anything ellse I would told you to avoid practically woudn't be the truth, because diferent ads attract diferent people. And I've come up with a short table, to put it like that, with what phrases attract what kind of people and you can basically rotate them or use them by what kind of PSA's you want to recruit.
Work from home- i noticed that people answer to this when they are at the beginning of the search for online job, but quickly stop responding to this phrase or even consider it spam, depending on what kind of companies they run into first. The person attracted by this phrase is more likely to be inactive but you would attract a larger number of people, so you have to weigh your options here. I think it could attract active people who are unemployed and motivated but they might lose their motivation quickly if they fail to earn in their first month. I think most people responding to this would be in their middle age, so you could expect motivation, but, not because of their age, but because they obviously take this kind of work simple, you would have hard time getting them ajusted to marketing as a skill that has to be built and new things have to be learned every day to find success. Their strength would be patientce to learn in the beginning but not as long as it takes.
Online job- this phrase is little less banned by classifieds, but what could happen is that it attracts people who are skillfull with using internet, because they want to earn ONLINE not just FROM HOME. Less people would respond but with bigger chanses to get actives. The thing with this phrase, i estimate, is that it would attract more young, motivated and driven members but- would thay have the patience to work?
It is more likely you attract people who want to get rich fast like this, or think just because they are skilfull with using internet they can earn more easily than everyone ellse.
Commission work- explains from the spot that a job is about advertising and selling, but it would repell people who are not interested in advertising. On the other hand, it could attract people with previous experience in marketing. A person attracted to this phrase may have the skills do be a good SFI worker already. There is, off course, the danger of them not taking online advertising seriously.
These are just some I've noticed. Whatever you do, obviously you can always get inactives, but, there are some mild diferences in what kind of people respond to what kind of ads.
In the end, I would reccomend you to go with phrasings that attract kind of people you want to work with, or rotate them, post diferent kind of ads because any of these types of workers can become succesfful, you never know.
