Before contacting the new affiliate via instant messaging, you should send them a welcome letter introducing yourself, speaking a bit about SFI and what they should do first, and letting them know that you are here to help and assist them, you can also request the affiliates permission to contact them via instant messaging in the future if ever you both are online at the same time.
