If they are confused about everything (I take them by the hand so to say) I try to get some screen shots to help, as pictures say 1000 words and this will help in giving them some kind of direction on what and how to do something.
You simply do this in order for them to follow you and what you are doing.
You can make like a pdf file to send as attachment by email or you can use Screencast-o-Matic to do screen shots, lightshot or a snipping tool.
