First of all, you should convey to her/him that it is a very legitimate issue, and that she/he is totally in the right to discuss it with hers/his sponsor. Than, try te get to the bottom of the matter, mostly which resource is the point, time or the money. If it is time, share with her/him your ideas, solutions and shortcuts in time management. If the money is the issue, share with her/him your ideas that do not cost money (free internet options, polling of the resources, scaling down for the time being, etc.).
