I would say your 1st communication will be on live chat if you and your new team member is online at the same time. However, I find the new affiliates does not react always - maybe they are not aware of the same time message option?
e-cards still remains a lovely way to communicate with individual affiliates and to let them know they are special to you and that you are interested in their progress and willing to help them.
Team mail is another very good way to communicate with individuals or groups and then your genealogy mail is very valuable.
Once their e-mail is verified and the envelope next to their names turned green you can also send individual mail via e-mail.
Firstly you will communicate to welcome them to your team. Make sure you give them all your contact information and to explain to them what your role is.
When you see the opportunity you can send e-cards with tips to help them out.
You will also send your weekly teammail - for this make sure you have structure and the letter is written to train and support - not just a few words to send so you can earn the VP - to not use this letter to its full value is a waste of time. You can altually draw up a plan for yourself to decide what you want to say each week. Keep these letters and build your own library to use again.
Answer e-mails with questions from your affiliates as soon as possible.
Do not send a avalanche of letters every day - all you will achieve is to fill up your affiliate's inbox and irritate them. It can also be seen as spam if you are not careful.
