As a beginner in SFI, you should be able to follow the letters, and videos, the START, SFI BASICs and all that is on the TO DO List. It is presented in easy to understand English and we have translators on each page. The instruction for setting up your e-Mail, profile, photos, etc. are fairly easy and pretty complete.
But you have to do the reading, slowly enough that you can comprehend the material. And not get so impatient that you won't learn. You can do it all yourself. You don't need a sponsor to hold your hand throughout the beginning process.
And when you do have a question, there are many places to find help, upline, Forum, ASK SC, Help Desk, search, sponsor, co-sponsor. Try your sponsor first. If he can't or doesn't help, then go to the others.
But it is nice to be able to have a relationship with your sponsor. A business partner/friend sort of relationship. This is where it becomes more important to have a sponsor. At first your team is rather small and inactive. Your sponsor's team is probably larger. Even if he has only you and one other active PSA, it is larger. Therefore the group he is leading is larger and he can do more with his team than you can at the moment. And you can learn from him how to lead your own group when it has grown like he leads his.
For example, he can sell or give away shares to his advertising co-ops. The more people who put money into the pot, the better the advertising can be, and the better the results for all share holders. He can lead group recruiting meetings bringing together members of his own team and their invitees and present SFI to them. He can organize advertising campaigns for his active PSAs to help with.
So, while a sponsor can start out as a teacher/leader, he can turn into a true business partner which is more valuable.
No matter how helpful your sponsor is, remember the responsibility for the success of your business is you. Not your sponsor.
