If persons I sponsor advance in SFI faster than I do, should I continue to try to train and support them?

Of course you should!
The fact that you have a successful member you only plus. What better your co-worker that's you in the long run better. You can never lose their associates, if you are active in the SFI!
There is no jealousy and obstacles to associate is better than mentor.
The team members alternate experiences, support it with him motivate yourself that you may be better.
