So don't worry about your skills rather focus on whether the person you are communicating with understands.
Here are some simple facts that should help you when you do not know the level of education or fluency of the person receiving your message.
1. Communicate using basic sentence structure. This means short sentences focusing on one topic or subject at a time.
2. Use simple words as all languages have these and keep the sentences short. This makes it easy for Google to translate your words into other languages.
3. Most people understand what is being told to them if you speak to them at a fifth to eighth grade educational level. So no big or fancy words need to be used.
4. Answer the person's question simply and directly. Don't try to interpret what they want to know or add a lot to the conversation. If you do not understand what they want, ask them to explain. Keep in mind you can always end with "anything else you need" or "do you have any additional questions".
5. Ask if they understand your answer and let them know that they can always contact you if they need more help or need more explanation.
If you are communicating, which is the exchange of ideas or information, and the other person understands, then you have good skills.
