Getting guidance and support from your sponsor is vital of course to ensure you can make the best of your SFI business. I am in the lucky position of knowing my sponsor personally.
If making contact with your sponsor has given you no results remember that you can also approach your Co-Sponsor. You can also approach sponsors higher up in your upline (in My Acct -> My Upline). You should get a good person to keep in contact with if you're not getting the needed support from your direct sponsor.
SFI also has a lot of other members who I'm sure would be willing to help you out if you asked them nicely. You only need one or two members to be in communication with that can help you and they don't have to be your direct sponsor.
