The SFI system is a complete system that has evolved over the past 17 years to what it is today with millions of dollars having been spent. Even at that, management has not ceased but continues to chunk out series of innovation so that the system can be comparable to or surpass her competitors.
With the above, I would say that one should stick with the system, as it is capable of and it has in fact taken so many affiliates to the highest rung of the SFI success ladder. Do not try to re-invent the wheel.
