This is a great question.
From my own experience both are very much important. Preferring the SFI Group Mailers it has also been necessary to connect directly via an Affiliates email address because of technical issues.
If you have already set up Microsoft Word properly, this can also be resourceful. I have found this to become an issue from time to time and had to send email from my own email account.
If the provisions for SFI are functioning properly use them as a preference. If you are reaching out casually to an Affiliate other than SFI business, it is advised to go directly to their personal email address. Just do not use the privilege to promote other links to your Affiliates unless they are strictly SFI or TripleClicks related.
I find it more convenient to use my own personal email address for conversations that are casual and also if an Affiliate communication is private in some situations. Mostly use my personal email address when communicating with those outside my immediate team, but please do not ever promote anything other than SFI or TripleClicks when practicing this privilege. It is not worth having your account suspended.
