First,take a look at the affiliate's profile.
You,ofcourse,get info when they fill out their profile,entitled "(name of the PSA) Affiliate profile notification".And there you can see the "score" of your PSA.The higher the number is,the more competent person is.
You can start from there.
What is the score of the profile?If you're lucky,your PSA will have score of 15 and more.Even thou,most of the PSAs will have score under 10.Which means that person is almost "newbie",and will need much guidance,tutorials and special attention,if you want him/her to succeed.If the score is higher,then only general guidance is needed.
Take a look at PSA's prior experience (if there was some),business strategy and goals.And?What is the general impression of the profile?Future Team Leader or just someone who came to see what's going on?
Even if the affiliate's profile score law,it doesn't necessary mean that such person is "waste of time".Ofcourse not.Try to communicate with him/her,to see the reaction.If you got some feedback (e.g. answers your e-mails,),that's positive thing and it means that there is a will to learn something.Which is great!
Don't forget the steps SFi suggests us to follow with the new PSA:
1. Contact PSA, introduced myself, briefly described my background, goals, etc.
2. Add PSA to your newsletter mailing list
3. Discuss PSA's goals, family, etc.
4. Inform PSA of incentives, if any, you offer (free leads, SFI Gift Certificate, etc.) to encourage affiliates to accumulate VersaPoints and become an Executive Affiliate.
5. Inform PSA of any special support resources I offer, such as co-op advertising, team newsletter, etc.
6. Offer general assistance setting up PSA's business, answering questions, providing direction, etc.
7. Provide your contact information (e-mail, phone number, IM address, Skype number, etc.).
8. Discuss the marketing methods PSA plans to use to build his/her home business:
- Internet marketing (e-mail, Websites, etc.)
- Print media (periodical/magazine ads, card decks, etc.)
- Direct mail
- "Warm marketing" (friends, family, co-workers, etc.)
- One-on-one local recruiting
9. Help PSA develop prospecting and sponsoring skills until he/she has personally sponsored at least five SFI Executive Affiliates and has achieved a Team Leader rank.
10. Monitor PSA's duplication efforts with his/her own sponsored affiliates and continue to provide assistance as needed.
11. Continue to work with PSA toward his/her earning goals.
All in all,you (as a leader,as a mentor and foremost - as a friend!) need to identify who is worker in your team,act friendly to him/her,help that person to develop his/her own online business, and make sure that you are there to offer friendly guidance and support in a timely manner as your personally sponsored affiliates (PSAs) start out on their journey.
Remember your own step you had here,in SFI (ofcoruse,this time escape mistakes and wrong steps - if there were any).That's exactly what your affiliate needs to do,to become successful like you.Teach him/her that,and you won't regret.
