When I was a service manager/mechanic at one of the most expensive shops in our system, I was always one of the highest earners for our shop because I found out one simple fact--if the customer was happy with my attitude and compassion for them, they didn't care about costs. In other words, As long as I made them feel as if THEY were important, they didn't care what was the cost. If I made them comfortable and showed them THEY were important they were happy and didn't care how much it cost.
So, you can't become a successful salesperson if they believe all you are interested in is the money you have to spend.
Most people understand that objects are all replaceable, so if one concentrates on the customer, they will soon realize the customers want THEIR NEEDS fulfilled and the salesperson fulfills their needs--not the object!
