There are so many examples I can give you but none of them will work for you if you cannot accept that you will and you can sell something. Many people shy away from sales because they say they cannot sell or they are not good at it or they cannot approach just anyone. Others feel a sense of "beyond me", how can I do this?
You must understand that for someone to buy something (anything) from you, they have to like you - this may sound rather awkward but it is very true. The next point is then to develop that likable personality. This starts the process of selling.... Please do not say that this is not practical, it is because I have gone through these processes from a non-seller to a seller of high valued products.
To go back to my point of selling a button, when you ask yourself, why should I buy the button from A and not B. This has simple answers. A has probably provided a lot more information about the button, the features and benefits of the button and the buyer is convinced that the seller is looking out for the best interest of the buyer!
Therefore, some very basics that will help you become a good salesperson is you need to be good at what you are selling. The only way to do that is if:
- know your product better than your competitor
- know how to overcome price objections
- provide more information than what the buyer expects from you
- understand the needs of your buyer
- be honest in your dealings, keep promises and when you are wrong, be ready to apologize
This enhances your confidence, boosts your morale and improves your skills to the level where you can immediately know what product you will sell to the person walking into your store. The best part is that YOU WILL SELL.
