It is told of a small boy who saw a butterfly in the form of a cocoon struggling, forcing and trying to emerge out of its casing. He watched the whole metamorphosis as it struggled to come out. Out of pity for it, the little boy took a blade, slit the casing in order to free the butterfly to enable it to come out and fly.
After a while, he noticed that the freed butterfly was still lying at the same spot, unable to move. He wondered why.
His father explained this to him: The process that the butterfly was supposed to go through to come out strong and be able to fly was aborted because he slit the cocoon. By struggling and forcing his way out, the father explained further, was the butterfly's way of strengthening and exercising and "pruning" its muscles for its ability to fly. Once the boy tried to help it by "shortening" the process (thinking he was helping), he rather did the butterfly a dis-service. Its muscles were not strong enough for it to take a flight.
The gist of this story is, in my opinion: An Upline can guide some, but not let the Affiliates be totally dependent upon him. He can help them get on their feet, but not be their feet.
