There is a limit to how far you go to give help. You have to show your affiliates where to go for answers to questions and problems. They need to be able to help themselves. If you keep give everything on a platter, sort of speak, they are going to expect that all the time.
There is nothing wrong with a reward or a gift to encourage them to keep up their good work. Those affiliates will do what it takes to learn and move on if they are really wanting to build a business. The ones that are just looking for a hand out are not going to stay long anyway.
