I have just returned from a 10 day vacation in our mountains. Internet and phone service is questionable in most of the area I visited. I have been there before so I was more mentally prepared to deal with that.
First, consider Your team. If they are used to communicating with you, or if they have grown to expect your communications, then let them know you will be gone and may not be able to find internet service, and not to worry, you will return. They have the Forum and a2a friends that can bridge the gap if you should not be available.
Second, find out what you can about the services you will have where you plan to go. Cell phones do not work everywhere. Each company has it's own range and you can look at that by contacting their web pages. My phone has not worked for me on three trips that were in different directions. My husbands has worked in two of the three. If you are out of range, you will not have phone service and your smart phone will not work. That is unless you can find WiFi services. Generally the motels and many restaurants and local libraries will offer free wifi. Some places have open wifi and you only have to be in their parking area to reach it.
Plan your trip accordingly. Find out where the nearest wifi to your destination is and decide whether you will be willing to travel to that site. If not, then use the vacation mode at SFI. I prefer to not use it because it subtracts one day from your streak for everyday it is engaged. I want to maintain my leaderboard position and there are only a few days between me and my nearest competitor. So I would go the extra miles to keep it.
I have a notebook and a smart phone that I take on vacations. The notebook needs wifi, but the smart phone can be used anywhere there is signal. My biggest tip here is that I log in whenever I can and check my business. I also do all of my Red Tabs, etc., as early in the day as possible, even at midnight SFI time. That way I can foresee when I will be having trouble and have more time to overcome it. I at least get my 10 VP per day finished as soon as possible to cover the Streak requirement, but may leave the ASK SC for time riding as a passenger if I have service. This is generally while riding through the big cities so it may take 3 or 4 sessions before I am finished with ASK SC.
These trips are also an excellent time to blitz the T-time with your entries. You can enter once every hour all day and night until you win. Just enter as often as you remember it. You may increase your potential to win.
Don't forget to take eCards and ECA brochures with you and pass them out everywhere. Leave them in bathrooms, hotel rooms, bulletin boards, rest areas, etc. Talk to businesses and Flea Markets, outdoor sales about advertising on TC with the ECA program. Buy local newspapers and send ECA material to those who are currently paying for advertising. Remember they don't pay for advertising because they have enough sales, they advertise to increase sales.
Use the trip to expand your territory. When you refer a local ECA, then concentrate on referring more ECAs in that area and then concentrate on recruiting PRMs and PSAs from the same area. Make a nest of SFI/TC activity where everyone is helping each other and shipping cost is being kept low as they can use local pick up. The beauty of an internet business is that you can grow that pocket of business from your home.
Depending on the tax laws of your country, it may also be tax deductible as a business trip if you can document your work.
