Mary, I think you stated your question wrong because I believe you know that we should never "discourage" anyone at any time.
I believe you really meant to ask "How can we remind our PSAs that good, effective and PROFITABLE team leadership means THEY must recognize the rate of development within their groups and understand that some people, for one reason or another JUST CANNOT grow as rapidly as others."
Of course that means they must actually answer the questions (that sometimes are not asked)as well. Sometimes we need to take time to show them how to develop those "people skills" that REALLY mean the difference between growth and stagnation such as knowing when those "un-asked" questions are being asked. That part of leadership is often the most important and is always the most difficult to teach.
Sometimes we must just remind them that slower, but steadier growth, will ALWAYS create a much stronger team with fewer "opt-out" and fewer "sleepers" or "tire kickers" and that strong growth and team development often justifies remaining an EA2 a month or more longer to ensure STRENGTH.
Personally, I would rather have 5 people that remain EA2 for month after month after month than 1 that becomes BTL or even STL their first month, and then is at the forum asking " I need xxxx VP to remain as BTL or STL this month?" If they had a STRONG group, we would never see that question in the forum!
In the first place, they should know the answer to that question if they had learned anything about SFI. All that does is tell everyone else they have not done their homework AND that they are NOT YET READY FOR TEAM LEADERSHIP!
