When I am confronted with this situation, I tell them that they are earning every time they get a Versa Point and then ask them what business they know of that does not have a large investment that must be made before ANY income is produced.
I know of none. Even if you want to sell newspapers or magazines, you must FIRST BUY THEM!
When you sign up for SFI, you immediately have a store with nearly 100,000 products you can sell. When you open a store of nearly any kind, you will need to go to some sort of "orientation or training program" which, at the very least, is going to cost you for meals, often lodging, and sometimes even training materials. All training materials are FREE from SFI AND you take your training at your own pace and at your own computer in your own home.
You get a support system that can't be beaten by anyone. What other multi-million dollar company with (more than a million associates) do you know of where the Founder and CEO of takes the time to answer questions from a new person nearly every day.
Finally, I tell them to try to find a business, ANY BUSINESS, that made enough profit to even pay the salary of the officers in less than 3 - 5 years.
I say to them, "You must remember this is a GENUINE business (not a lottery and By The Way, you must even invest in the tickets to win a lottery)so it requires TIME, PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE, and DETERMINATION".
