I think that this becomes an issue if one has a large number of affiliates. For those who are just starting to build their team, the answer is a resounding, "YES". Nothing says 'I'm here for you' better than a personalized, individual welcome letter.
The content can be pre-written and general enough for all new affiliates and then a few personalized comments added in before sending out is a good compromise if one is pressed for time and have a big number of people to write to.
Group mailings on the other hand can be canned, or sourced from SFI news, useful tips etc and then sent out to the team. I'm pretty sure nobody expects these to be individualized. Writing a tailored message to support and guide an individual affiliate would of course be a different category altogether. Hope this helped.
