You can do either but I feel that you should do both. I'm not saying they should say the same thing. Take the time to read what information they have shared, design the individual mailings to the person. The sooner the better - don't wait 3 or 4 days before you decide to contact your new members.
New members are much like small children, they want your attention and they need our help!
